Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me recover access to my old Internet Identity account.
I originally had an NNS account with a numeric identity number. When I saw the prompt to upgrade to the new Internet Identity system, I completed the upgrade using my Google account.
However after logging in with Google, the account is showing a different wallet address and my ICP balance of approximately £206 is not visible. It appears my old account and new Google login have different addresses.
I no longer have my original numeric identity number written down and I’m not sure if I have a recovery phrase saved.
Is there a way to recover or link my old account to my new Internet Identity? I can see there may be a backend recovery option but I’m not sure of the correct steps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The upgrade process is always from legacy passkey to a new passkey, if upgrading involved a Google account, you’ve likely created a new identity instead.
Please have a look at the following self service pages that might list your existing identity number:
If it’s not listed you can try the “Lookup by passkey” button.
I can see the original identity number how do I get onto the original account to transfer my funds
Summary of my situation:
• I have an existing Internet Identity anchor number which I still have access to
• I staked ICP tokens in 2025 and can see the transfer transaction on the ICP
• The transaction shows as a ‘Transfer’ to a wallet address I do not recognise
• When I search that destination wallet address on the dashboard, it shows a balance with no further transactions and no neuron staking activity — meaning my coins are sitting there untouched
• However when I log into the NNS with my anchor number, my neurons show as empty and the destination wallet address does not match my NNS wallet address
• I believe this may be related to changing my login email from MSN to Gmail during the Internet Identity 2.0 migration, which may have created a separate identity
What I need help with:
I need to identify which Internet Identity anchor is linked to the destination wallet address that holds my funds, so I can regain access to my coins.
I have the following information available:
• My original Internet Identity anchor number
• The destination wallet address where my funds are sitting
• The original sending wallet address
• The transaction details from the ICP dashboard
Please could you advise on the best way to recover access to this wallet.
Glad to see that you were able to find the original identity number!

After upgrading, you can consider setting up a recovery phrase and/or link a Google account. Keep in mind, if a google account is already linked to another identity e.g. the one you accidentally created, you’ll need to unlink it there first.
Before making any access method changes to identities, I’d always recommend making sure to set up a recovery phrase.
I have sine this, I am trying to find where my coins have gone… I don’t know which account it is on, also I do not recognise the address
