Personal DAO SNS Launch

Personal DAO is a turn-key decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) designed as a non-custodial, private resource allocation platform for communities. These DAOs may be deployed, seeded and operated by communities of all shapes and sizes without the need for technical experience. These DAOs have the potential to dramatically increase access to capital for communities around the world, thereby leading to an explosion of productivity for communities within developed and developing economies alike.

  • Colin “Meta Owl” Stevens :us: - Digital Operations Manager, Digital Media creator
  • Samuel Atwebembeire :uganda: - Software Developer

2. Personal DAO Association:

The Personal DAO Association is a nonprofit association established under the jurisdiction of
the government of Switzerland. The objectives of the Personal DAO association are:

a.) To secure consumer protections for users of the Personal DAO protocol. Consumer
protections are to be secured by ensuring that the Personal DAO protocol is protected under
Switzerland’s Digital Ledger Technology regulations and by ensuring that Personal DAO’s
codebase is built in such a way that prevents subjugation to European Union’s GDPR
standards. More details on the legal strategy will be released over time.

b.) Promote the adoption of the Personal DAO protocol.

Secquoyah Lacy has been and continues to be an active participant throughout the alpha and beta stages of Personal DAO’s development. The Personal DAO Dev team is working closely with Secquoyah Lacy to refine the Product’s user experience with the intention of simplifying the product for the purpose of arriving at a UX that can facilitate the easy onboarding of Secquoyah’s ever-expanding community.

Accomplishments:

  1. “OG” Personal DAO deployed to the internet computer.
Since being deployed in July 2024, the “OG” Personal DAO has:
  • Completed more than 180 proposals
  • Undergone more than 12 successful upgrades delivered programmatically
  • Accumulated 53 DAO members
  • Accumulated 17 Stakers
  • Accumulated ~800 $ICP in TVL
  • Issued 1 loan collateralized by staked $ICP
  1. Deployed 17 Personal DAOs to the Internet Computer Blockchain within the span of just 10 days. Each DAO has its own founder who will be building their own communities consisting of stakers, borrowers and lenders. Each DAO can be accessed via the Personal DAO Ecosystem Open Chat Community where you’ll find an embedded channel for each DAO deployed to the Internet Computer.

Product Demonstration: Presentation of Personal DAO’s ecosystem, functionality, vision and use cases

Try the product: Anyone interested in testing a Personal DAO can do so by joining any of the 17 Personal DAOs deployed to the Internet Computer. All of the Personal DAOs may be accessed via embedded channels within The Personal DAO Open Chat community.

Thank you @ishaaqziyan. There’s a Personal DAO with your name on it in the not-too-distant future

Hello @Jesse,

  1. How would an SNS impact the mini-DAOs within Personal DAO?

  2. How are you working with Suesy Coils? What is their use case?

  3. Do you have a SNS.yaml file?

  4. When will you submit your proposal?

Can you please also share the link to the main website? Is anyone currently open to creating a DAO?

Hey @jennifertran. Thank you your inquiry.

Before answering your question, I’d like to clarify a misconception. These DAOs aren’t “mini-DAOs” that exist within the jurisdiction of some larger, overarching DAO. Instead, they’re all DAOs that exist completely independently of one another. The DAOs may share the same WASM implementations or they may have different implementations.

They’re all coded with a protocol that allows them to make a call to a “WASM store” that is maintained by the Personal DAO Dev team. If a particular DAO instance wishes to receive the latest WASM implementation offered by the Personal DAO Dev team, that particular DAO may do so by submitting a proposal that is facilitated by the governance protocol of that particular DAO. The proposal is accessible and actionable only by the community that comprises that particular DAO.

To answer your question, a particular Personal DAO may or may not be affected by the SNS token depending on whether or not the community that populates that particular DAO relies on the Personal DAO Dev team for receiving services such as upgrades and/or cycles replenishment.

Any time such services are needed from the Personal DAO Dev team, they are to be paid for using the token that is to be created in the SNS launch. The SNS token is the payment token that is to be used whenever DAO communities wish to purchase a service from our dev team.

DAO communities that choose to replenish their cycles consumption elsewhere, and choose to code their own upgrades, and choose not to hold the Personal DAO token as an asset within their treasury need not use the SNS token at all and are not impacted by the token in any way.

We’re working with Suesy Coils in order to refine the product to a level of simplicity that she feels her audience will be able to understand and utilize so that they may be onboarded.

Her use case is to create a community that will use their own Personal DAO to conduct peer-to-peer lending and borrowing among themselves so that they may have better access to credit while also providing an additional revenue source.

I will be creating one this week and will update this forum post to include the .yaml file once I’ve done so.

I intend to submit my proposal within the next 14 days.

I’m currently working on creating a main landing page. I expect to have this completed soon. I’ll update this forum post to include that landing page upon completion.

Currently, we have 17 prominent members within the ICP ecosystem who have already created their own DAOs. Since I’ve begun deploying Personal DAOs, I’ve received consistent requests from key opinion leaders within the ICP ecosystem and beyond to have their own DAOs deployed.

I’m throttling the release of more DAOs as there is still more testing and refinement that needs to be done before deploying many more DAOs. I’ll be deploying 8 more DAOs during the beta stage of development. Following the beta stages, I’ll be creating a UI that end users can visit to purchase their own DAO programmatically using the SNS token that we’ll be releasing.

I’m scheduled to deploy two more DAOs next week, and 6 DAOs will be deployed for giveaways to community members that help us promote the during the SNS launch.

Hello Jesse,

Thank you for the explanation.

We recommend that you have the SNS.yaml init file open sourced for enough time for the community to review. We generally recommend that all of the components required to develop this forum post including the SNS.yaml init file is available for at least two weeks.

Can you please also share the live website?

I’m working on putting together the SNS.yaml file, but have encountered a bug during the SNS test flight that is delaying me from being able to complete it. I’m currently awaiting a response in this forum post.

If you know of anyone who can speed this process along, it’d be a big help to ping them.

Yes, I’m still working on this and will share it upon completion

Can you please create a separate forum post about the bug and then DM it to me?

Yes, DM’ing you now. Thank you.
