Do rules apply to everyone equally?

Adam you did great posting about hotornot.

Your trolling has gotten out of hand and your witch hunt on other people and projects have made you act childish and rudely to those that also wish to protect and participate in the ic. There are times and places for things. If you wish to troll or be a child go into your own servers or twitter. Here should not be your place to trash the community and or troll.

Hmmm you are speculating so I should flag you

Let me ask this, without Adam and Thyassa posting in the way they have what would have been done? Up to this point nothing had been done. And that would have likely continued.
The degree of “trolling” thats has accused is only due to there actually being fraudulent projects and people trying to get it sorted out. If there was some due process where we could get these sorts of things dealt with quicker then there would be no need to make these more passionate posts on here.

The trolling needs to stop. He doesn’t need to be posting drunken forums on making his friend ceo, he doesn’t need to be talking about bribing Jordan under kongs q1 update. He has mocked the forums enough and it’s time to stop.

So trolling is worse than dodgy projects killing the ecosystem? Imaging you have put 100k’s ICP into these projects, you would probably want to troll as well…

Money doesn’t mean rules do not apply.

There are plenty of platforms he can troll on including his own discord server

Rules are not more important than sorting out fraud.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

Outside of hotornot what fraud has he actually proven?

Did I ever say that? Yes I acknowledged Adam did good bringing attention to things we all have been saying for years.

But there is a line that should be drawn. This forum should not devolve into adams troll playground and remain a place for people to come to get away from the trolling that takes place elsewhere

Agreed, and we are trying. I’m working on some ways to get some more consistency across the various mods since at the moment everyone more or less uses their best judgement, which is obviously not a great way to get consistency.

I agree in some forms, but not totally. I don’t want people to call each other assholes just to hurt each other. I am fine with people being called potential scammers if evidence is provided. So far we have been on the heavy moderation side, but I recognize that we should be a bit more hands-off as long as people behave somewhat. Working on it.

Maybe to make this a bit more constructive: Where would you draw the line what is allowed and what isn’t? We can’t allow illegal content, I don’t want to allow obvious scams like “call this number for free money” (we get dozens of those per week), I don’t want porn on this forum.

I agree, it is good to discuss such things. But in this specific case, threads were of extremely mixed quality. Some simply said this is a scam, and it looked like an attempt to start a witch hunt. Others showed claims together with evidence (conclusive or not isn’t too important IMO, but it sets the stage for an objective-ish discussion instead of a witch hunt). And then we had other threads where the hotornot folks were contributing to technical discussion and some folks came in to simply insult them.

IMO only the second should be allowed - you can call someone a fraud, but show evidence. I’m trying to make our policy on this more clear, both internally and here to forum users.

I can see who flagged, and I can tell you it’s a variety of people. Obviously if you call someone an idiot (or worse) they will likely flag the post, but there’s a lot of people that dislike(d) the tone of a lot of your (and others’!) posts in the last weeks.

Yes, we’re working on something. And we would like to start a proper discussion on the rules update.

I don’t think it needs to be done in that way. Take for example this thread. Yes, a lot happened outside of that thread, but IMO this is how you discuss hard topics without being too combative.

Thank you for the response. I have tagged this as the solution since you answered everything relevant through this thread and my question about rules.

Thank you for this.

Look, let me put it in an analogy that most people here should get.

People building on the IC, with NFTs, Defi, silly games, we are the Ghostbusters.

The people that are trying to slow down, censor, deflect, filibuster, and ban any sort of animated discussion… these people are Walter Peck.

Don’t be like Walter. The IC needs to be a place where people can come together and build great apps. It appears that stuffy middle manager types are running the show and the community is leaving in droves.

We used to have about 30k people in a discord going mad for IC NFTs. What happened? Drawn-out standards discussion, broken apps, cycle draining attacks, theft, outright fraud. It’s clear that there is a network of people within the IC that benefit from its failure.

Next up, we’ll be revealing the identity of the BIL hacker.

You’ve described every major L1 chain. The foundation is not responsible for protecting investors but for building infrastructure for people to use. This is why the term “dyor” became relevant.

Now when you do provide proof I’ll be there to support but I will never agree with your random witch hunts and endless trolling on a professional forum.

The word scammer should probably be banned, as it doesn’t contribute to productive discussion. Instead, we should encourage people to present evidence without passing judgment. This forum should focus on serious, primarily technical discussions. Rather than debating who is or isn’t a scammer, we should be working on improving the protocol to prevent such issues in the first place. Regardless of whether the label is deserved, using it only harms the forum’s credibility.
