Over the past few weeks we have seen a handful of users take advantage of the forums to troll, push conspiracy, and lash out on those that don’t agree with them.
Why has nothing been done to address these users and end the trolling on the forums? I have seen users get banned for far less than what Adam has been doing.
The latest instance of Adam and Jordan trolling has taken place under the Kong q1 update. How long does the community have to put up with the select few trashing a place that heavily moderates average users?
The rules should be equal for everyone, but it shouldn’t be to ban Adam. It should be more open and free. (Stop hiding my messages. The forum should not become a place where scammers’ eloquent lies are allowed but people are not permitted to question or criticize them.)
You are worried about a guy trolling when you should be worried about the actual threats to the community. I wont repeat them here because there are enough posts about it.
Unfortunate that it takes an unruly crew making noise on these forums before anything is done about it.
If you had your way the community would be defrauded over and over by a bunch of charlatans who hide behind their “polite” and “professional” presentation.
If you only knew the amount of times I’ve raised the flag prior to Adam going on this crusade.
There is a way to go about this that doesn’t destroy communities and shade the ecosystem as centralized fraud rings while still removing the fraud.
So no you are wrong about “ if I had my way” I just don’t see the point in our largest investor being able to make a fool of the entire ecosystem in order for him to try and claw back his icp from lack of due diligence.
Dont know why you are keen to let proven fraudsters go on quietly like nothing happened.
Everything that has been brought forward is substantiated by independent investigative work, and the help of tools developed by EnzoPlayer0ne. The findings resulted in dfinity submitting a proposal to pause NF. And much needed discussions with node providers.
The fact that you dont like the tone of the people who forced the issue is meaningless, we will all be stronger for it.
I hope you realize that Adam controls about 7% of vp on the nns so he not only was a lead voter to approve this so called “fraud” but he was the lead investor pushing interest into these fraudulent sns sales.
Instead of throwing a tantrum expecting to be protected he should accept that he made bad choices with his votes and his money. Accept the consequences and improve his choices in the future.
Except they didnt just defraud adam, they defrauded the Neurons Fund. And every single other person who contributed. I hope i dont have to get into specifics about sums of money collected and what these “products” are. I thought that is the point of your post right? That other people matter too.
Hopefully we can just leave it at that and not rehash the entire details of these repeat offenses.
It is one thing to make a bad investment in a failing enterprise that made an honest attempt to complete what they set out to do. It is entirely another thing to flat out lie and deceive.
My point of this thread was to get a response on why Adam is allowed to break the rules of the forum with no consequences.
The only thing Adam proved was hotornot was a bad investment for him and others that didn’t research the team or product. This is crypto where scams are rampant and due diligence on investing falls onto the investor. If you make a bad investment take your hit learn from it and invest smarter. Don’t go throwing tantrums, blaming everyone else, lumping anyone who disagrees with you as a scammer and then try to claw back your poorly invested money. Take accountability enforce rules and be better.
That is fine. As it stands currently we see individuals get censored for far less than what he is allowed to get away with. Either we need an update on the set of rules or they need to be enforced equally.
Thank you @Mico, I fully agree. I also am concerned about these trolling developments by people who display an unequal power element given their wealth and whale status, who really should have the greater interest of the community at heart but are instead starting to create an echo chamber where any dissent is discouraged. A lot of people may be discouraged from contributing their legitimate views because anyone who says anything that goes contrary to this group’s views is immediately branded as part of whatever alleged scam. This is very concerning and not a good development for the community. Also quite disappointing to see people who claim to be big supporters of the ecosystem acting this way.
No. The issue with hotornot was a good thing to bring up to help reform the sns launch pad. It has now transformed into him wanting to claw back his money while trolling the entire developer forum for his own enjoyment.
Not to mention that he has accused a bunch of other people (totally unrelated to this HotorNot thing) of all kinds of things that are not true. And of course the way it was done in general.
Perhaps people agree with him because he was in fact correct in identifying bad actors, not because he has voting power/money. It really seems to bother you that someone can act childish and still be correct.
If your thesis is had merit, everyone should just blindly agree with dfinitys decisions since the foundation has the most money/voting power. But the thing is people really dont like being deceived by fraudsters. And it took a bunch of troll posting to get them to take action.
He was correct on something that everyone knew if they read the white paper and looked into the dapp. It has since then been nothing but him trying to get refunded for poor investing choices.
Again there is a big distinction between poor investing choices, and outright fraud.
You can use the “this is crypto” arguement. But this isn’t some small project. This was a team that secured _$13million in funding that largely came from dfinity. Dfinity with the IC is trying to build something better here, and i would hope as a community we dont look the other way when these things happen.
I don’t think anybody is siding with Dfinity and there is and has been plenty of criticism against them and their voting power. They generally are quite evidence based though in their posts rather than inflammatory and accusing anyone on a hunch. I stand by what I said: being accused by him of being a scammer at any point of dissent is limiting proper debate on the forum and creating an echo chamber. Not to mention that there have been allegations that he is paying people off to post things and support him etc. Regardless of whether there is truth in that or not, it’s just not good for the community that this is how it’s evolving.
Hey Snoopy. I’ve been seeing your posts in this forum. You and Wenzel seem to be posting on same topics, with very similar opinions.
I do not understand why are you trying to dismiss legitimate exploit and scams to distract others from the conversation. Does it have anything to do with you and wenzel liking each other’s post nonstop?
You have been attacking everyone who raises valid concerns with your posts calling them trolls and dismissing their opinions like a gatekeeper. Meanwhile defending people being called out
May I suggest less gatekeeping and more substance in your words? For example: Sticking to a subject at discussion or letting others discuss without attacking them for their opinions on scams and frauds being called out here?
Let me also remind everyone that Wenzel and Co flag other people’s posts here nonstop and censor them. They have been doing this for over two years now, heavily gatekeeping Forum and Governance discussions here.
