Why Support Boom Evolving Into Mimic?

There have been many questions about our intention for the DAO currently known as Boom. Today, we’re excited to introduce our plan for its evolution and welcome your input:

MIMIC DAO — a fully community-powered development loop built around creativity, contribution, and collective value.

MIMIC DAO will serve as the governance and funding engine behind Mimic, our open-source data modeling and query language. Through a well-designed token economy, community engagement, and NFTs with interactive mechanics, MIMIC DAO will enable a sustainable feedback loop for continued innovation and open development.

What is Mimic?

Mimic is an open-source, schema-based query and data modeling language for handling complex data. Originally developed for Dragginz, it has since been decoupled and released as a general-purpose framework. It can be used by any developer building on the Internet Computer — not just game devs.

Our commitment:

  • We will continue to build Mimic in lockstep with Dragginz.
  • We will also listen to the broader developer community and incorporate new features based on open requests.
  • The Mimic framework has potential use cases across game engines, asset marketplaces, dynamic NFTs, simulations, identity systems, and more.

Enter: CLAY (Token)

The DAO’s token will be renamed to CLAY, inspired by the idea of primal clay — flexible, foundational, and ready to be shaped into anything.

Just like Mimic, CLAY represents the raw material of imagination and creation.

CLAY will be central to MIMIC DAO’s operations, particularly in powering the economic loop that funds development and rewards community involvement.

NFTs with Lootbox Mechanics

MIMIC DAO will launch an NFT collection with lootbox-style mechanics, built using the NFT Maker that we are developing.

The design will be interactive, modular, and inventive:

  • CLAY will be the exclusive currency used to mint these NFTs.
  • NFT content may include creatures, elemental forms, or otherworldly items — combinable or tradeable.
  • Community-crafted NFTs may be featured in future games or applications — though not in Dragginz directly, we already have Swampies for that.
  • We’re exploring game-like mechanics where mixing different types of clay could create unique monsters.

This is an experiment in player agency, creativity, and economy design. Full details of the NFT design and mechanics will be published once final. We need to finish the NFT Maker first!

The Development Loop

Here’s how the loop could work:

  1. People spend CLAY to mint NFTs.
  2. That CLAY is sold by the MIMIC DAO for ICP.
  3. That ICP flows into the MIMIC DAO treasury.
  4. The DAO funds are used to pay developers, contributors, and builders of the Mimic Framework.

This circular model ensures that value returns to those building the tools, systems, and experiences — creating a sustainable incentive loop.

Ideally what is developed and who is rewarded what should be voted on by the CLAY holders. Open to suggestion how to make this fair and transparent.

Anyway these are our initial thoughts. As you are aware we’re working on a lot of projects — but they’re all building towards the same purpose. A intertwined community where each component makes the whole stronger.

NFT Maker - essential for the NFT marketplace, Dragginz, Swampies and for the IC to have meaningful NFTs that can do far more than currently available NFTs
Toko Marketplace - an open, reliable market to trade these complex NFTs on the IC

The marketplace will be the home for many NFT collections, both existing and new (Motokos, Pokedbots, Swampies, Dragginz, to name just a few). The marketplace and NFT maker will be open to anyone with an idea.

Mimic is designed to be a core tool that any developer can use and adapt. At the moment it is hard to really understand what it is unless you are a dev that is using it, but there will be better documentation as it matures. Also, the DAO means there is a way for other developers to highlight what features they would like to be added and for the community to decide.

Both Mimic and the NFT Maker & Marketplace are essential parts of the Dragginz game development. It is all linked and nothing is wasted.

It is absolutely essential that new development models emerge on the Internet Computer (ICP).
It’s ironic that a technology built on the promise of transparency has become a place where people use the most deceptive tactics to make money without producing anything.

The current model—where individuals receive funds from neurons to support development but fail to deliver real results—has gone too far.

We need a new approach, one where developers are paid based on what they actually build and deliver.
This system should be transparent and community-driven. At the same time, it could serve as a powerful incentive to attract developers.

Imagine a model where tasks have funds locked in. When a developer completes a task, the community validates the work, and only then is the payment released.
I’m tired of seeing projects that come with grand promises, receive funding, and ultimately deliver nothing.

Our first priority should be creating a model where developers are rewarded strictly for what they deliver—nothing more, nothing less.
Think of it like a freelance marketplace: anyone can come in, contribute something valuable, and earn money—but only after the work is done and validated.

The current system of funding development with no accountability or transparency is a mess. It’s time for change.

Agreed.

If we can implement a system where treasury funds are given like bounty rewards after a community vote that the criteria for the bounty has been fulfilled, it would encourage a lot more goal orientated development.

This is a great idea. You would be the first SNS to implement such an incentive, but it’s exactly the kind of incentive that all SNS projects should be offering to the community. The SNS framework already makes it very easy. You just need to formalize a work process around scoping and awarding the work and how to execute the proposals that result in payment. The treasury transfer and mint SNS token proposal type are already perfectly suited for this payment system because you can submit proof of work in the summary of those proposals. You could really blaze a new trail on this one.

I’m pretty sure @icsneed has built a reward distribution system just for this kind of purpose.

Good to know. I’m not familiar enough with sneed to know, so my apologies if they deserve the credit for being the first.

What is your plan for the community, will there be insentives for those who promote your projects on x?

I dunno Im too busy with all of this. We’re good at community and we keep our promises, whatever they may be!

Send your project social handle and discord link, I want to shill it to my community

What is the point of this incentive when Adam would control the votes?

If this were to be a solution they would also need to find a solution to the centralized takeovers.

Is there really anything like decentralization in icp? That word decentralization is not real in this icp blockchain alot still go underground, who actually decides… Isint it the devs does community votes really count? :joy:

Greetings everyone!

We want to share an update on our work at Elementum as a game development studio on the IC, specifically regarding the commission we received from Boom to create three games with Burn mechanics, a rewards system, and the administration of DIGGY.

As many of you know, when Boom launched DIGGY mining, our team was allocated 250 miners.

The distribution of everything mined since then has been transparent and aimed at boosting the ecosystem:

  • 50% for burn: $DIGGY 4,815,611
  • 20% for rewards in BGG (Boom Gaming Guilds): $DIGGY 1,926,244
  • 20% for the prize pool of the DIGGY game: $DIGGY 1,926,244
  • 10% for the Elementum team: $DIGGY 963,123

The total $DIGGY mined was 9,631,222.

Currently, we have successfully completed the first game

and are in the final stages of developing the second, along with the new lobby UI, where access to all 3 games will be available

However, Boom’s recent evolution towards Mimic has placed us in a delicate position. All these processes and decisions have been validated through community votes, and Elementum has always had the best intention to continue developing innovative games for the Boom community.

Nevertheless, the reality is that without an injection of funds at this time, it is considerably difficult for us to move forward with the development of both remaining games and the continued administration of DIGGY.

@Thyassa @borovan we would like to know your opinion on the situation of the remaining games and how we can find a collaborative solution to continue building in the Boom/Mimic ecosystem.

We are also very interested in knowing what the Boom/Mimic community and the DIGGY community think about this situation. What do you believe should be the next steps to ensure the continuity of the development of these games and the value of DIGGY within the new Mimic landscape?

Similarly, as on all previous occasions, once the second game is 100% developed, we will submit a proposal for the transfer of funds, as this is the process we have been transparently following.

We appreciate your comments in advance and are open to exploring different paths to continue contributing to the growth of the Boom/Mimic ecosystem.

We look forward to your responses!

Sincerely,
The Elementum Team

Ill message you. Would like to know more about the game you have developed and how it integrates in IC.

Completely open to moving anything that people like over to use the mimic back end.

Also @plsak can you let me know more about what are best parts of gaming guild? We dont have any relationship to the boom code, but no reason why we couldnt develop something similar using mimic.

We could possibly give something to accounts that had highest scores etc as long as we could get all principals.

Dear elementum team. Please dont get me wrong but your games NEVER got any Update… they NEVER changed in ANY way and the first thing after this change is asking for further money…? Srsly?

Sorry to interrupt, but for me the best part was the daily challange u had by playing little games… and the idea that the offer of games could grow to something bigger. We had two games (coin rush & climb master) but the team boom team didnt help those devs. No the invested their money into Elementum (ok but not the best choice) and dom daddy (most boring game ever happend on ic) so we already HAD good devs, but they left because of corrupt boom team.

Hi @Thyassa, speaking for myself, most regularly I played Plethora, Paws Arena and Elementum, liked also Coin Rush, Crypto Harvest and Toyoworld.

For overall playing usage stats would be more convenient info from the https://guilds.boomdao.xyz/ - where was visible overview for each gaming guild (like how many times has been played), but these are not loading for some time already (~ mid April):

Luckily ( :peacock:) I was quite active in the BOOM discord channel and found there my screenshot (from 2024-12-28) with some useful stats, hope this can help at least for overview :crossed_fingers::

NOTE: playing of most guilds was rewarded ($BOOM, $DIGGY, + the XP points) so some of the games stats might be distorted (crappy game but gave rewards…)

For the Leaderboard, it is still available (on gaming guilds URL), but I’m not sure if we can get there any list of principals, also I’m not sure how many players and devs from the BOOM ecosystem are on this forum (@Monkeycruise pls can you advise if Hitesh and/or others have an account here?), but I can always share any info on the Discord, eventually please feel free to join the channel in order to share any updates or requests (like for principals…) directly:
BOOM DAO

And just to say, I believe that cooperation of Mimic/Dragginz and other games from the ICP ecosystem is a very good (and Win-Win) idea, can help to greatly enhance the whole ecosystem and would be much appreciated by the community as well
