There have been many, many threads created over the past few weeks, and this will hopefully serve to answer as many outstanding questions and hopefully stop the cycle of the same old conversations happening again and again.
I will begin by addressing the most common phrases that are used against @borovan and myself.
I will try to insert images so hopefully you can make it through the wall of text. Sorry Essays are not my forte, but in this case, it is necessary.
Adam is evil and is trying to destroy all the SNS projects!
So far, Adam has not taken control of any SNS. ICPCC being turned into Swampies was not something that Adam instigated, but we have kindly been given a chance to change it into something positive (more on that later).
- Adam has purchased tokens that were listed for sale using his own money. This is something that anyone can do. Moaning that it is not fair that person X can afford something that you cannot does not make them evil.
- Adam has used the parameters of the SNS to create proposals. Again, anyone can do this especially using the amazing IC Toolkit @rem.codes developed.
- Adam has voted for proposals. This is what you would expect anyone who holds tokens to do.
- Adam has asked people to follow his neurons. Exactly the same as all the named neurons do.
None of those things is “evil” or “destroying a project”
Evil is subjective, I guess it depends if you are one of the projects that was content to pay yourselves a generous wage from your SNS treasury in return for offering none of the things that you promised, yes you probably do think that Adam is a bad man.
Adam and myself have invested in most of the projects that have gone through the SNS process. Sadly a lot have not delivered anything close to what they have promised. As investors, we are sick and tired of this and demand change. It is pretty hard to destroy something that doesn’t exist in the first place!
I expect some people will argue that we have yet to launch Dragginz, but we post weekly updates on our progress and are very active within the Dragginz community. That is far more than can be said for most of the SNS projects.
Adam has stolen from treasuries!
I believe this is referring to Trax in particular. We put in almost all the funding for Trax. Temporarily Adam did borrow the treasury to put into buying tokens of SNS projects that have not delivered. When we get the interest from our neurons, the funds will be returned. Everything is fine between the Trax team and us. We have a call with them tomorrow about development going forward.
You make wild accusations and have no proof!
We have active dialog with the foundation on many concerning issues (DOLR, WTN, certain Node Providers, SNS needing milestones, NFID to name a few) and it is to them that we have presented all our proof. Action has been taken and will continue to be taken.
Anyone trying to bait us for information will be ignored.
So what are you doing?**
Now on to what we want to do going forward. In our opinion the IC needs a few things things to succeed
- A trustworthy wallet (Oisy and maybe NFID)
- An easy way to create and sell NFTs (NFT Maker and Toko Marketplace)
- A reliable exchange (Kong Swap)
- A prediction market (Kong Swap and maybe…nah that isn’t gonna happen)
It is a big plan so I will have to break it down into sections.
Boom Dao
Officially the ugliest mascot on the entire ecosystem. It gets to live for a few more days. Unless a rabbit can be pulled from the magician’s hat, it will become Mimic. The important thing to state here is that only the DAO changes.
That has zero impact on Boom Dao’s “games, code, NFTs”. All this means is that Tommy and Max can no longer take their monthly stipend for doing absolutely nothing. If they truly believe in their project, they can continue to build it. Maybe they will surprise us all and actually do something that people can utilize to build games. That would be a fantastic outcome. I doubt that will happen based on the past few year’s contributions from that team, but stranger things have happened.
As for what we will do, see this forum post - https://forum.dfinity.org/t/why-support-boom-evolving-into-mimic/
NFID
We voted no on proposals because our entire interaction with this project was reminiscent of the previous SNS launches that were aggressively pushed on us by the same group of people . The foundation will be voting on this soon, so maybe things will change. However, we have shone a spotlight on their performance so far and now it is up to the WHOLE community to continue to hold them accountable. Maybe this will help provide clarity and focus. If not, they may have to call some of their backers or lock up their own token for more than a month. There are many ways they could have already rectified the situation, but instead, they prefer to claim victimisation…
The Project Formerly Known As ICCPC
This isn’t one that we actively targeted, it just sort of happened organically. The whole “Drain the Swamp” thing wasn’t a master plan. After seeing @geeta23 come up in @lorimer’s post, we started looking into the node provider relationships. They gave 40% of the voting rights to a random guy that happened to be in our discord (love you mate!). Just wasn’t a serious venture,
Then more people started coming to Adam and I with various issues and it turned out there were many different problems that had been allowed to slide. Anyway ICPCC is now Swampies. I already made a big post on our plans for that here - Swampies Follow Neuron
No, it is not just jpegs. We are trying to create something of value that people can get behind, the Swampies project will help improve the IC’s NFT system and help people in ALL of crypto wrap their heads around the fact that NFTs can be absolutely anything that person A can trade with person B. I have written about it enough on Nuance and we have a Youtube video about it I have linked loads of times. You know our stance on NFTs. At the moment they are junky (aside from GoldDAO which actually provides something different). That isn’t the creator’s fault. The tech has been severely limiting thus far. We aim to change that.
NFT Maker and Toko Marketplace
This is where most of our time is being spent right now. There is an elite crack team working on this and it is looking AWESOME!!!
The NFT Maker will not make the images for you, but will enable you to create and manage collections or unique NFTs. I have outlined an earlier spec here - https://forum.dfinity.org/t/honest-experience-of-nfts/ Still TBD if we do an SNS or just have this as a DAO. It may be the test guinea pig for new SNS rules that need to be enforced, who knows! Regardless the maker will be it’s own beast for the good of the community.
The Toko Marketplace will be under the Motoko Dao. This does not mean all trades have to use the Motoko Dao’s currency, the creator of the NFT gets to dictate a lot at initial set up and the seller will be able to state how they wish to be compensated.
Also important to understand, unlike Entrepot/Backdoor Bob’s other schemes, Toko will not be able to hold anyone’s collections or NFTs hostage or have any access.
No, this does not slow down development on Dragginz as we absolutely need to have complex NFTs with logic and a marketplace in order to create the game.
WTN
Neither myself or Adam agree with how it is currently set up and we have raised our concerns and what we consider to be possible ways it could be gamed to attack the IC ecosystem to the Foundation.
Separately we are speaking with a respected team to create an alternative liquid staking option.
On this, I think there are two factions on the forums that just need to agree to disagree and move on.
Ghost & Dogmi
Potentially ICPanda. We want to take a defensive stance on the SNS so they cannot be revenge 51%'ed to get back at Adam and I. We want to work with them to help then get their NFTs free from Entrepot control and working on the IC as intended. This is not a takeover, it is to help them. We will sell our stake slowly when they have been set up and are in charge of their own NFTs (imagine that!). Slowly as we don’t want to dump the price. The aim is not control here, they have communities who support them and we want to help them flourish.
Other SNS DAOs
We do not intend to use any SNS projects other than those already listed above for NFT collections.
That said, we will not sit by and see junk highlighted on the listing of SNSs. This is one of the first thing that a newcomer to the IC will look at. Because they are linked by Dfinity itself, they will assume these projects are legitimate.
So far we have such gems as:
DOLR AI - formerly Hot or Not, then “laser focused” on Yral. So far their greatest achievement has been gaming the subnet rules to make it difficult for anyone else to deploy a working application on any subnet they are on (and there are a lot thanks to their claims they need one cannister per user). So far there is zero proof they have anything hosted on the IC! But that is not all, while they were scamming us with Hot or Not/Yral, they then did Estate Dao and FuelEV.
EstateDAO - one of the projects the guys behind Yral managed to do with George Bassadone’s help while they were laser focused on making “the future of social media”. Lists one fictional apartment. Its a splash page people! This needs to be eradicated from the SNS Dashboard page. Same account as Fuel EV funded this, they just laundered money to steal from the Neurons Fund and nobody thinks this is a bad thing???
FuelEV - Another side project for the laser focused Dolr guys. Incredible how they can continue to pump out this level of product as well as their… oh wait.. It is a literal car crash! They had one car in India for a photo shoot and apparently crashed it… surely the Neuron Fund participation alone could pay for many cars in India, or any country! Same account as Estate Dao funded this, they just laundered money to steal from the Neurons Fund and nobody thinks this is a bad thing???
Seers - Sorry @marcio but it has been how long? Kong literally came along and surprised us all by adding some form of prediction market out of the blue. Where is Seers?
Fomowell - Just downright lied. Gonna fund liquidity… in their beer mugs maybe!
I could go on.. but seriously, anyone that argues this is exactly how the SNS should look really needs to have some valuable introspection time.
So back to the topic, what will we do with these should we take control?
We intend to give these to teams that are building valuable and viable projects on the IC. We already have a dedicated, respected builder in mind for the next one. They have proven they can make a product but were disinclined to go the SNS route for various reasons.
If you know of anyone that may be deserving of one of these SNS husks that you can reshape and transform into something that the IC community can be proud of, let us know.
