Already there are 2 posts that are censored. I think this goes to show the absolute need for free speech.
This is a fundamental philosophical issue of decentralization. Unless it is done by people who understand liberty (which includes freedom of speech), it will inevitably become tyranical. This is exemplified by the censorship on this board. Yes I understand, perhaps there is some kind of “eu compliance” that dfinity must maintain, and there is always going to be a need for a “proper” forum like this one. However the thing everyone here should understand is that it structures all users to be deceptive, and write deceptively.
For instance, simply by having a “Dfinity” tag, will cause a person to respond in a “propper” way, that will not tarnish the dfinity name. They will be forced to agree with the stance of others, because interpersonal politics is an unstoppable force in the real world. This dynamic completely changes on seachan. Starting with the fact that its anonymous, there is no sign up required, we attract all people of this world. Something that true decentralization should strive for philosophically. Also, due to this, everyone can post whatever they are actually thinking, without fear of repercussion.
Has anyone here considered that many people in dfinity might have absolutely great ideas that get suppressed for some irrational reason? Perhaps there is a fear of being fired, or loss of career promotion later on for being a bit “too radical”. Seachan completely mitigates this, and makes it so that every persons words are all stand-alone, and fight for themselves. Someone can write the most brilliant thing, and we won’t know if it’s Dom, or a janitor from a swiss cafe. If it resonates with others, it’ll have an effect on our collective growth and understanding.
