We are the ICP Tokens team, and I’m the core developer of the project. We’ve encountered a significant issue with the “DARKMAGA” token listed on the ICP Swap platform.
Over the last 24 hours, there has been a surge in trading volume for this token, but users are reporting that they are unable to execute sell orders.
Upon attempting to swap, the platform returns the following error: “Failed to transfer DARKMAGA: Creating a canister requires a fee of 500_000_000_000 that is deducted from the canister’s initial balance but only 200_000_000_000 cycles were received with the create_canister request. Try sending more cycles with the request.”
We appreciate any insights, experiences, or solutions from the community or DFINITY team to help mitigate this problem.
Hi Jennifer, i also ran into some issue with placing an order for darkmaga, it executed the 1 icp withdrawl but didnt complete the transaction, neither was my 1 icp returned to the swap pool on ICSwap. look its not a big deal but it does throw some spanners in the wheels of smooth trading.

We have already reached out to the ICPSwap team regarding the issue with the “DARKMAGA” token and are currently awaiting their response.
However, this problem appears to be one that requires broader community awareness and discussion. Is this issue potentially due to a backdoor in the token’s contract? If so, can we flag or prevent such vulnerabilities?
Our goal at ICP Tokens is to serve user needs and to expose and flag as much information as possible about tokens and liquidity pools to ensure a safer trading environment.
