Random and recurring problem. Login to Internet Identity

I am frequently having an issue when trying to log in with the NNS. I use my mobile for validation with one of my identities. The problem is that before it sends the signal to the mobile for verification, for some reason the process gets interrupted.

I’m sharing an image to see if anyone has experienced something similar and if they were able to resolve it.

Hi!

Sorry for the inconvenience. Could you tell me a bit more about the flow?

Do you mean that you use the flow of “Continue with another device” (as in the screenshot) or do you use the web authn QR code that appears with the browser?

What are you expected to do with your phone?

Thanks!

Thank you for your reply ! @lmuntaner
The process I do is to validate with the browser my identity by sending a request to the mobile to identify me biometrically.

  1. I write the id of one of my identities. And press continue

3)

4) I identify myself on the cell phone and the process ends.

Usually after step 3) the process is cancelled. Not always, just sometimes.
This method is for an account that I use for testing, so I have to log in several times during the day.

It’s what I feared. This part is not part of Internet Identity. This is all the WebAuthn standard at the browser level.

Which browser are you using? Could you try with another one?

The passkey authentication via QR code / phone is very fickle. It could very well be that this does not work reliably. Since it is an OS feature, there is not much we can do about that.

However, since the passkey is on the phone, you should be able to visit https://identity.ic0.app with a browser on the phone, enter the identity number there and sign in. When successful, you can add the desktop as an additional passkey (or at least create a recovery phrase). This would result in having two passkeys, one stored on your phone, and one stored on your computer.

In general, the solution to these type of issues is to use the browser on the phone to sign in to II, and then adding a recovery mechanism / and add the computer as a separate passkey, instead of using a QR Code to sign in on your computer using the passkey stored on your phone.

Thank you very much for the reply ! @lmuntaner @Ang I had a feeling that this was exclusively related to the OS/Chrome

Still, today it’s been working better after I updated Chrome and Windows. I have several access options if this one doesn’t work.

Thank you very much for your time and willingness to help! Closing the topic.
