Introducing RentSpace - a property rental application powered by blockchain

RentSpace is a property rental application powered by blockchain and web3 innovation.

Problems:

  1. Lack of Immersive Video Marketing for Generation Z:
    Traditional property listings fail to engage younger audiences who prefer dynamic content like Instagram stories.

  2. Growing Demand for Collaborative Booking:
    Group travel and rentals are increasing, yet the market lacks efficient solutions for joint booking and payments.

  3. Difficult and Time-Consuming Crypto Payments:
    Crypto users face hurdles converting to fiat, losing 0.5%-2.5% in the process.

Features:

  1. TikTok-Style Video Marketing:
    RentSpace offers a captivating video format, allowing users to swipe through engaging property videos, making property hunting more interactive and enjoyable.

  2. Crypto Payment Integrations:
    The platform supports both crypto and fiat payments, providing flexibility and reducing currency conversion hassles.

  3. Collaborative Booking:
    Facilitates joint booking, payment, and communication among multiple parties, simplifying the process for groups.

  4. Action-Based Rewards:
    Users are rewarded for platform activities and NFT staking encouraging engagement and loyalty.

Highlights:

  1. Received Developer’s grants from Dfinity Foundation and completed 2 Milestones.
  2. Integrated one of the largest booking aggregator and started a closed testing of the app in July.
  3. Launched 4 NFT collections and built a prototype of the NFT staking platform.
  4. Completed the acceleration program by 3x Capital, participated in 3 Hackathons.
  5. Opened a legal entity and bank accounts in Europe.
  6. Organised 2 events with ICP CC, started to built a community (8k followers across all platforms) and onboarded 120 ambassadors.

Web3 advantages

  1. We will be storing data from user including Tik-tok style videos onchain.
  2. Payments in crypto, including ICP, ckBTC and ckETH.
  3. We have user registration, log in and payment with Internet Identity.

How is it built

Our Project consists of 6 canisters :

  1. User canister: used for managing user data. registration, update, fetching user data. It also stores the record of user registration frequency every month.

  2. Hotel canister: hotel management, creation by hosts, update deletion and even deletion by Admin. This canister also contains the frequency of hotels registered month wise.

  3. Comment canister: deals with the comments posted on the introductory reels provided by the host of the Space. This cansiter also stores the frequency of bookings.

  4. Booking canister : handles all the booking for users as well as reservation management for hotel owners. This canister contains the flow for icrc2 payments for booking the hotels.

  5. Review canister: Handles the reviews posted by users on a Space, this is canister plays a significant role in calculation of hotel ratings.

  6. Support canister: This canister is purely for providing support to the users. Most of its functions like resolving a ticket raised by user and replying for user support chat queries. Most of these functions have admin check for execution.

Internet Computer superpowers

Motoko/ICP features used :

  1. We have utilized the try/catch error handling with Result type for giving responses.

  2. Triemap is used as the basic data structure for storing the data in each canister in a key-value pair manner.

  3. Switch case statement are mostly used for unwrapping the outputs received from the map.

  4. ICRC2 flow for payment is integrated for facilitating payments in ICP, ckBTC and ckETH.

  5. mops cpackage manager is used to handle and use utility packages.

  6. UUID is used for generating unique identifiers for hotels, booking etc.

  7. Principal.isAnonymous function from base library is used for preventing anonymous users from accessing important update calls.

  1. Communities - Engage actively with relevant communities on platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, Discord, and Telegram. Share insights, post updates, and poll for feedback. Identify and collaborate with influencers.
  2. Ambassador Program - Recruit power users and advocates to organically champion our product through case studies, social posts, and local meetups. Provide ambassadors with premium support, swag, and other perks. Onboarded 120 Ambassadors.
  3. Innovative partnerships - Connect with founders and managers of leading crypto companies to drive awareness and adoption in a scalable way.
  4. Events/Conferences - Set up booths and host workshops at major industry conferences and hackathons. Send team members to organize events on villas, network and demonstrate our product’s capabilities. Provide away swag to build awareness. We participated in 5 conferences, organised 2 side events (Kyiv and Lisbon) and plan to be in EBC (Barcelona), Gitex (Dubai), Binance Week (Dubai) and WebSummit (Lisbon).
  5. Articles - Publish educational articles and tutorials focused on high-search-volume topics and keywords. Promote through SEO to attract organic search traffic. Repurpose content into different formats.
  6. TikTok/Instagram - Create short-form video tutorials and behind-the-scenes content tailored to each platform’s culture. Run contests, giveaways and hashtag challenges.

Monetization

We will generate revenue from fees for property rental, NFT sales and event sponsorship.

Future Plans

Q3-Q4 2024

  1. Complete fully the onboarding program for the first 100 users of RentSpace. Guests: Participants need to create an account, book property via RentSpace app and pay in ICP or ckBTC using connection to Internet Identity.
  2. Participate as startup and speaker in EBC (Barcelona), Gitex (Dubai), Binance Week (Dubai) and WebSummit (Lisbon).
  3. Onboard more users through paid marketing campaigns in X, SEO and ambassador program.
  4. Organise 3 side events for RentSpace community on villas during conferences.
  5. Print and distribute worldwide 1000 pieces of high quality merch with RentSpace, ICP and other partners.
  6. Onboard users from other ecosystems through action based rewards programs, ambassadors and partnership campaigns.
