Forum moderation and automation

I agree. @sat looks like @kristofer offered a solution. So many posts in this topic, some look like essays. But the solution was really this simple. Can you please close this topic @Severin. So many unproductive discussions.

A blockchain that claims to use governance as a means of decentralization is still over-censoring discussions about governance. No wonder the ICP governance system hasn’t made any progress in the past four years. No one is forcing you to read topics you don’t like.

I suggest the forum links verified ICP voting power to user accounts. Let’s take a look at who should be allowed, who should be banned, and who should have the right to ban others.

I see that the AI is already active. I had a post that was awaiting moderator approval, but decided to delete it until I learn more about the new forum guidelines and moderation techniques so I can make sure to comply. I don’t think there was anything wrong with my post, but the AI flagged it for some reason so it seems like there is more to learn about the changes.

I generally refer to VPs who receive funding from DFINITY as “white gloves,” rather than people who fund DFINITY.

The gatekeeping in this forum is just bad

  1. Thanks for posing the question although this is not a DAO, this action is geared towards that reasoning.
  2. I would like to see the Discourse AI trained in human behavior.
  3. It also frees up the Dfinity Team’s time to be geared towards more productivity of resources.
  4. Trail it, lets see what data comes from it.

Kinda not wrong here. Adam didnt do his due diligence on some of the SNS projects he threw some pees on, and the opportunity arose to go full ELON/DOGE arc to capture some hype/attention around his brand. Fair enough

It is what it is. The trolling could definitely be scaled down. Hopefully he and some of the crew that followed him into the forums can dial in on more productive ventures now.

Some benefits have come from this whole movement, and I think we are all ready to move on. :handshake:

@skilesare do you have something to say?

What does ICdevs.org do anyways?

Since Austin @skilesare considers this a solution, we can expect ICDevs to build their first decentralized product - A Forum

Its okay. Comparison is the thief of joy. Just in different leagues. By the way are you still working for Wenzel/CodeGov/Synapse? I have seen your posts here @TheUltra16 , seems like you have nothing significant to contribute to this network either..

Not near as much as you…we could only wish Austin and ICdevs brought your value

This forum is becoming a place for trolls to do what trolls do.. sad times.

do you even know about the SNS rugs and Motoko NFT backdoor?

have you tried reading instead of going on in the forums calling others trolls?.

you’re going to do it anyway, so why bother asking. i know it’s embarrassing for dfinity, but instead of covering up the problem, it would be better to ask yourself why discussion suddenly turned “toxic” and solve the root cause. people are actually showing a lot of restraint given the circumstances.

to everyone else: from the perspective of a nobody retail baggie, it’s really a shame that @borovan (and team) is one of the only ones on icp building a serious project and letting the results speak for themselves once they’re delivered, rather than blowing a lot of hot air, fleecing the community neuron fund with vaporware, and then disappearing. not to mention funding a lot of said vaporware with his own money to try and kickstart the ecosystem, and getting blown off and backstabbed in return. and then some of you have the nerve to wag your fingers, whine about tone, and talk down to him like he’s doing something wrong when he points this all out? i can probably count on one hand the number of sns projects that have delivered something useful for the community. he can’t even rely on any of you to keep a basic nft platform running to use for his game, so he’s having to do that himself too. get your sh*t together please

I agree with your opinion. These are serious issues. Instead of covering it up and downplaying its significance, we should be able to discuss this issue and solve the problem at hand. All i see is same bunch of individuals defending scams, rugs and dismissing others as trolls

yawn, what is the point?

This is the post that I deleted while it was still under moderator review. Now that it has been posted anyway I’d like it to be obvious why I wrote it, so I’m posting a screen capture and a link to the post that prompted me to write it. It’s fine that this got posted because it needed to be said anyway.

I see you have come up with more conspiracy theories, but I’ll limit my response here to points that are aligned with the original intent of this forum thread.

I think a lot of people would appreciate you making a new forum and moving there at this point. Honestly, I thought you had done done that already in the Dragginz Discord with the channel that is named “general-no-wenzel” where you have your only rule explicitly stated in the title.

I’m a big fan of understanding the rules of social platforms and applying moderation to ensure they are enforced. On the DFINITY forum there are explicit rules of engagement that you can find in the FAQ section. When you violate them, especially over and over, you may get banned. It’s not me who bans people. It’s the moderators. The person responsible for getting banned is the person who violates the rules. If that ever happens to you, then you should take personal responsibility instead of trying to blame others. A person who gets banned has nobody to blame except for themselves. Understand the rules and stay in compliance. It’s pretty simple and it’s necessary to have the rules and the moderation in order to keep the forum civilized.

Your power and money and influence over DFINITY means you get a white glove treatment from everyone. You get away with far more than anyone else. Regardless, I have no interest in you getting banned from the DFINITY forum. I would rather see you engage in a more diplomatic way though. You have an important voice, but with great power comes great responsibility. It would be helpful to the ICP ecosystem if you were to stop engaging on the forum like it’s a degen meme coin or NFT project. The internet computer is so much bigger and better and actually has the potential to attract big business and government. However, it is very concerning to see one of the biggest whales in the ICP ecosystem, who has close ties to the top leadership, engaging in such a reckless way. You submit nonsense proposals, cast your own 7% total voting power in the NNS, and half the time convince another 8% of voting power from other whales to follow your lead based on trivial and misleading information. Then you try to justify some of those proposals and some of your forum engagement as a drunken rage or a joke, as though that is justification for your behavior. These are the kinds of things that people notice and it raises eyebrows. These are the kinds of things that do harm to the ICP ecosystem when it comes from people with your power and influence.

People who are looking to make future investments and/or set up critical infrastructure for their business or government come to the forum to perform their due diligence. They don’t just talk directly to DFINITY. They also do their own research and when they come to the forum they see you and all these conspiracy theories that you have started. In my opinion, it’s not a good look and it has resulted in a very toxic environment. I realize that I have no ability to influence you, that you probably won’t even read what I have to say on this matter, but somebody needs to say something and I’m one of the only people who is willing to do it. I only hope that someone you respect is attempting to talk to you in private conversations. My preference is that you stop all your degen antics and engage on the forum in a more civilized way.

Seems to be a higher level of concern toward keeping a forum “clean” than getting to the route of some vital issues that will effect the viability of ICP. We had a person on this forum admit abusing the SNS fund, there was less annoyance and concern raised at that than Adam and a few others being sometimes abrupt?
Is that the way we want to go?
When Bernie Mandoff was committing his frauds many of his investors “knew” what was going on but remained silent as they were benefiting too.
Do we want a scenario were we dont expose frauds because we want to protect our ICP?
The control of free speech is worse than the offence that free speech can cause and leads to things being brushed under the carpet.

Really Jon? Now we’re going to get another essay that circles around and ends up firmly at the point where I should be silenced.
