Excited about ICPEx?

A new SNS, not saving Lions from being shot by random people but you can’t have it all.

To anyone interested in supporting any DAO I encourage you to look at the Direct Commitment.

I am not saying this is 100% what is happening, but if you look at previous SNS launches like Fuel EV, Estate Dao and IC Explorer there is a pattern to be wary of.

There are some good projects out there with really hard working devs. There are also some bad eggs, unfortunately.

If you see the Direct Commitment be really high and then suddenly drop off, be wary. This is not financial advice, just something that I have noticed.

The SNSs that seem to not really do anything (unless you want to look at the picture of 1 apartment or 1 car) tend to have the same pattern… 6000, 6000, 5000, 5000, 4000, 4000, 3000, 3000, 2000, 2000, 2000, 1000, 1000, 1000, 1000 then cliff.

Maybe there are just some really excited people early on, but doesnt seem like it would be so cliffy if it was natural…

Well can you say what’s wrong with ICPEx or ICExplorer?

Yeah will explain in detail in am. @borovan did a few times but his posts got deleted. There is a pattern we have seen many times over. Took us too long to notice. Dont make the same mistake we did!

I use ICExplorer personally quite a lot so can’t really agree with the claim that it’s a “bad egg”. Regarding ICPEx their liquidity is really poor atm, but the platform seems functional though I don’t like the fact that you can’t simulate swaps on it.

Bit of an undertatement.

It might be a legit product but how can anyone know if theres no liquidity you cant even try it. Too early.

Yeah that page looks broken, but you can check out liquidity by going to Dashboard->Top Pools instead:

It’s just a fork of ICPSwap right? Somebody said that but I never verified it.

Not sure if it’s a fork but the code is not even formatted and looking at the audit, the code is poorly written.

Also couldn’t find their codebase on ICPExchange (ICPExchange) / Repositories · GitHub.

Their codebase is here(taken from the SNS declaration topic):

Not sure how much of it is a fork of ICPSwap but that was indeed the rumour.

Then looking at the actual code, I confirm that it’s poorly written.

Yeah that was pretty obvious from how unpolished the platform looks right now.

You can’t polish a turd.

But you can roll it in glitter!

Are these two projects made by the same people? Just curious, the name… Start the same way.

Why are YOU in this thread?

What is the problem? Why can’t I be in this thread? Am I not allowed to?

no just wondering which side you’re on

I am on nobody’s side. I simply ask questions if I see something weird.

fair point to be honest ICP Swap ICP Ex? Are they related?

Will we find a hidden toolbar linking to something from your previous app or is that only the truly sloppy that do that?
