Alice sns dao manifesto

Do you have a disclosure of dependencies? Is this actually just the Bob SNS? am I missing the Alice code somewhere?

The whitepaper and website both link to the Alice X account.

Well this escalated quickly, how many rejected proposals will it take.

Alright, so viewing order and standards as a failure is quite a unique perspective, I must admit I’ve never encountered this idea before :joy:. Moreover, it’s even more entertaining that you believe two weeks equals the apocalypse and consider any sort of audit a failure based on your argument. If you can’t be patient and wait for something to be addressed, I’m not sure why you’re here; you could go to any other chain and have all the chaos you want, dude.

Have been here longer than you sir. I know what goes on other chains but there is currently an underlying problem with the entire SNS onboarding process. Most people come here to milk funds from the community and sell you this idea that may never even be implemented and even of a less of a chance will make money. You’re donating funds basically where they have no obligation to benefit their investors.
With this underlying problem the launch requirements don’t really mean jack so for this project due to the amount of revenue and cycle burning that has benefited the icp eco as a whole. This is all just jumping through unnecessary hoops for launching a project that’s already proven itself worthy by ten fold.

Do you also have the code for Alice?

Hey @jennifertran. @bobdotfun hosted an impromptu Q&A today in the bob.fun chat group on Telegram. It provided some additional clarity on this second attempt at an SNS launch including some references to prior and future development. Below is a summary and a link to a good starting point in that Q&A.

Here is a 1000 word ChatGPT summary of the Q&A...

Summary of Alice SNS Proposal Discussion

Overview of Alice SNS and Decentralization Proposal

  • Purpose: The team behind bob.fun is proposing to launch an SNS (Service Nervous System) called Alice, aimed at decentralizing the applications bob.fun, launch.bob.fun, and alice.fun on the Internet Computer.
  • Tokenomics: ALICE tokens will be minted through the SNS sale, with 20% distributed as an airdrop to launchpad users and BOB token holders.
  • Airdrop Distribution: A custom off-chain mechanism will handle the airdrop, ensuring efficiency and transparency with on-chain verification. This workaround bypasses the SNS framework’s restrictions on airdrops.

Key Discussions and Clarifications

Treasury and Token Distribution

  • No Treasury: Alice will have no treasury. All raised ICP will be directly managed by the DAO for investments and activities like token trading.
  • Snapshot for Airdrop: A snapshot of BOB holdings will be taken in the coming weeks. Users need to withdraw BOB tokens from liquidity pools and hold them in personal wallets to qualify for the airdrop.
  • Proportional Allocation: The airdrop will be proportional to BOB holdings relative to the total supply. Tokens in liquidity pools will be allocated to the pools’ contracts.

Decentralization Process

  • Phased Approach: Initially, two canisters (BOB ledger and BOB mothership) will be transferred to SNS governance. Additional canisters, like the Launchpad, will follow after the team gains experience with SNS mechanics.
  • Governance Dynamics: ALICE DAO governance rewards are expected to be high due to attractive tokenomics and limited participation. Users can vote manually or delegate votes to neurons.

Technical and Logistical Aspects

  • Custom Implementation: The team’s workaround for the SNS airdrop includes creating custom code for efficient and transparent distribution. This approach will be tested for acceptance by the NNS.
  • Development Background: The team consists of part-time developers with experience in canister development and AI. All Alice infrastructure is being built from scratch in Rust.

Community Questions and Answers

Eligibility for Airdrop

  • Users must withdraw BOB tokens from liquidity pools and hold them in personal wallets before the snapshot.
  • Supported wallets include any compatible with the Internet Computer.

Impact on Liquidity Pools

  • Allocating tokens to liquidity pools raised concerns about price volatility during the snapshot as users withdraw liquidity to qualify for the airdrop.

Future of Alice DAO

  • The DAO will decide how to utilize raised ICP, including potential investments in liquid staking, token launches, or governance tokens.

Voting Mechanics

  • Initial neurons from the decentralization swap will have minimal lock-up periods for flexibility. Users can lock tokens for up to 3.5 years for maximum rewards.

Potential Innovations

  • Community members suggested exploring financial products, such as auto-buy mechanisms for BOB using staking rewards. While these ideas are beyond the team’s current capabilities, they are open to community-driven proposals.

Development and Support

  • The team consists of friends and part-time developers emphasizing community engagement and transparency. They plan to explain all processes on alice.fun upon launch.

Challenges and Considerations

  • SNS Limitations: Custom implementation is required to address airdrop and treasury management restrictions.
  • Market Volatility: Holding BOB tokens in wallets for the airdrop may cause temporary liquidity issues and price fluctuations.
  • Governance Education: Guidelines for interacting with Alice DAO are needed for community members unfamiliar with AI-driven governance.

Next Steps

  1. Proposal Submission: The new SNS proposal with corrected parameters is under review.
  2. Snapshot Announcement: The team will announce the snapshot date and provide clear instructions for eligible participants.
  3. Phased Decentralization: Initial canister transfers to SNS governance will serve as a learning opportunity to refine the governance model.
  4. Launchpad Deployment: Subsequent phases will include decentralizing the Launchpad and other applications under DAO governance.

Community Sentiment

The proposal received positive feedback for its innovative approach to decentralization and transparency. However, concerns about token distribution logistics, governance dynamics, and the impact on liquidity pools remain. The team’s openness to community suggestions and proactive engagement were widely appreciated.

This summary highlights the technical, logistical, and community aspects of the Alice SNS proposal, reflecting the collaborative and experimental spirit of the Internet Computer ecosystem.

To begin with, you don’t truly know me, so you’re unaware of how long I’ve been here. It’s funny that you think you’ve been here for a longer time. In addition, concerning your final remark about my project being unsuccessful due to applying uniform standards rather than being motivated by profit, take a look around—you’ll see numerous companies adopting the profit-driven strategy, which eventually annoys their customers and results in negative reactions. I concur that the system requires improvement, but taking shortcuts is not the solution, particularly since this isn’t a startup; it’s a significant company with a highly advanced project. There’s no need to rush anything, as if we don’t make a big move today, we won’t be able to pay the electricity bill by week’s end, right?

You’re right I don’t know anything about you and was just going off your profile age. But the thing I do know with the current model the majority of projects have not been profitable. Yes you can sell the idea that the technology is ground breaking but end up just milking on the funds they were given. If they want to go the non for profit route and mainly focus on development then they can go get the funding for it elsewhere instead of taking advantage of people and the community fund through the SNS.
You’re forgetting the community had invested in a lot of these projects and they can be great tech but why would I invest my money into them if I can’t make any money from it. There was all this drama with Juno which is a great project but not a profitable one for investors which is the reason they failed the SNS and dfinity reached out a funded the project themselves since they needed the money.
The for profit model can be terrible and ruin some projects but SNSs that manage to pass shouldn’t see us a charity

I wonder if the ICP raised by Alice was just for the purchase of BOB? Or is there another use

Hi all, with small changes to make builds work on Apple Silicon I was able to verify both the mother node Wasm that is currently deployed (00fe123bfa85583a4d0afc5fa13ae9d4d6a1be8b94125c7bf8082de5263df6ea), as well as the current miner Wasm (f5fb87d185cb49b74f2c3bcc76881ec9beb200ad769c4fa84ce95b126442c3aa).
Note that this is not from the latest commit in the bob repo, but from commit 86635fbcdc53d39815ee270487974f27e3db15eb from Fri Dec 27 10:00:39 2024 +0100.

Steps to reproduce:

git clone https://github.com/bob-robert-ai/bob.git
cd bob
git checkout 86635fbcdc53d39815ee270487974f27e3db15eb
# if on Apple Silicon, change the second line in the Dockerfile to `FROM --platform=linux/amd64 ubuntu:22.04`
# follow the instructions in readme.md to get the mother node hash
sha256sum target/wasm32-unknown-unknown/release/bob_miner_v2.wasm
# to also print the miner Wasm hash

I must admit that it’s a valid point, and I completely agree. Regarding my account, I typically don’t express my views on forums; I just browse and read whatever catches my interest. I’m not sure why I felt compelled to share my thoughts today, and I likely won’t for many future posts, if at all, lol.

[On behalf of the DFINITY team]

DFINITY plans to abstain from the second proposal, and will leave it up to the community to decide.

We strongly emphasize the importance of adhering to the forum post requirements, for all teams and particularly for teams seeking funding from the Neuron Fund. These requirements ensure thorough discussion and community input.

Given that Alice is not requesting funding from the Neuron Fund and some requirements for this proposal have not been fully met, we will abstain from voting.

Thank you @jennifertran and [dfinity team] for the heads up.

it seems a bit pressure being put on the community to clarify the proposal with the @bobdotfun dev team, and hope we can come up with some more clarification or maybe better terms in the proposal, before we all vote. (possibly postpone the voting till we bring more voices to the table, and not everyone is familiar with forum channel.)

I hope I don’t regret my rush vote Yes, seeing the value that the Bob dev team has already brought in the ICP ecosystem, and immense opportunities ahead, and yet not doing all my due diligence on the Risks that this proposal brings for all stakeholder.

I luckily attended Q&A Session provided by “Eve” ( sorry we don’t know the real person behind) a representative from Bobdotfun dev team.

Will post it here for all to see.
Will also post discussions from OC bobdotfun channel, that we wished from day 1 the dev team/Robert were present there too.

For transparency I’m a Bob holder, and I can reveal my stake and address if necessary, and have followed Bobdotfun development since the launch day.

Looking forward for mutual beneficial discussion from all parties, and will do my best to provide observations that could be helpful to all stakeholders.

Very best wishes for all,
Ermir

First, on behalf of Bob Holders in OC channel and others in TG, we greatly appreciate the value that @bobdotfun team has brought to the icp community.

We have more questions for bobdotfun team, and would like as much as possible clarity on the matter.

For everyone to see, and appreciate.

Bobdotfun Q&A session on TG
(B means a Bob dev team Representative,
Q. Question from anyone in the group lucky to be there at that time. I also just happened to be there.)

B. 30 mins left of lunch - drop your questions lads.

Q. Are you in Hawaii or something?
B. Somewhere in NZ - city staying anonymous.

Q. Awesome to see such great news.

I do have a question! ICP has really huge staking APYs which means you can build interesting products around liquid staking.

For example
A product where 50% staking rewards goes in to buying bob, or a Bob mining pool, meaning that one can invest once, and keep getting rewards week after week for years.

Would the team consider such ideas? :bulb:

B.
We come from a memecoin background on other chains, not liquid staking. All raised ICP goes to ALICE to manage - whether that’s investing in liquid staking, mining BOB, token launches, memecoins, or hot governance tokens. The DAO will decide which tokens she can actively trade.

Q. Transaction on bob, are they added on chain based on bob mining (proof of burn)? Sorry unrelated to SNS.

B. Not sure I follow - can you rephrase your question mate?

Q. A 2 day voting period on proposals is going to be brutal.

proposal_initial_voting_period:{
seconds:172800

B. We work on this during our free time, so shorter voting periods (while still reasonable) help us be more efficient. Lets us get a lot done during long weekends or holidays like this week.

Q. Bob halvings are much faster, I am trying to understand if there is any incentive for mining once all in circulation i.e transaction fees

B. BOB mining should finish before Bitcoin’s halving - we’ll see what happens then.

Q. My question was not well formulated and I did not realise there was a SNS QA ongoing.

My suggestion was not about the SNS at all, but new innovativ concepts for products and games.

ICP gives 15% APY and this enable lots of fun financial games.

For example allowing a users to lock up ICP for X amount of time, and every week the protocol would sell some of the voting rewards and auto-buy Bob for a user.

At the moment, I buy small amounts of Bob, and other coins, with my voting rewards manually, would prefer if this was more automated.

If I buy Bob today for 10 ICP I bought once for 100 USD - but if I put 10 ICP in a contract that stakes and auto buy every week, over long enough time I will have bought Bob for hundreds, perhaps thousands, and putting constant buy pressure.

I understand it might not be a great priority, but thanks for reading :v::slightly_smiling_face:

B. Are you suggesting we hold nICP from WaterNeuron, or create a new liquid staking product? Creating one is beyond our current skills, but if you mean holding nICP - that’s something ALICE can decide once she’s online.

Q. What does voting involve? Is there any risk to do without locking up tokens etc

B. You can either vote manually or follow other neurons and let them vote for you. The initial neurons you receive from the decentralization swap only have a 1 day dissolve delay, so they can be dispersed almost immediately. Or you can lock them up for 3.5 years max. The tokenomics are pretty attractive, so the ALICE governance rewards will be high, especially if a lot of people decide not to participate in governance.

Q. Is ALICE going to be using the ELIZA framework?

B. Everything’s built from scratch in Rust. Team has some background in AI which probably helps make it a bit easier.

Q. Yes, I was suggesting that farms / pools / games could use liquid staking such as nICP under the hood, to generate smarter games for users and increase the value towards Bob miners and holders.

B. ALICE will decide, plus the DAO can submit proposals for her to implement token-related actions.

Q. bobdotfun,
that would be great to automate the process of coverting a % of ICP rewards from staking in NNS wallet to Bob?!

B. Don’t know how to do that yet, but we’re open to suggestions.

Q. How many devs are on the BOB / Launch / ALICE team currently?

B. Team’s a group of friends who started messing around with canister dev and BOB v1. Most of us are devs in our day jobs. We do BOB development sprints on some weekends, which is why you see big jumps in progress sometimes.

Q. Could you also, when you have time, prépare à guideline for SNS DAO members, how to communicate with Alice?
Many are not yet into AI and don’t quite understand why they don’t get an answer!
I already see it’s going to be a fun and exciting journey. Thanks.
If I can be of any help, I’d be pleased to.

B. All will be explained on alice.fun when it launches - just like we did with bob.fun

Q. If the proposal passes what’s the next steps and approx timeframes

Q. Why do the whitepaper and website links point to the Alice Twitter account in the SNS proposal? bobdotfun

A. We prefer not to share too many technical details before launch - that’s been our style since day one (and definitely not because we hate writing whitepapers ;)).

Q. How long have you all been part of the ICP ecosystem. Was it very long before Bob.fun was started? How and why did you get interested in the internet computer?

B. We knew about ICP but never went too deep - then we tried building BOB for fun and just kept going from there.

Q. Have you tried any dev work on other chains and how was/is your experience on icp?

B. Indeed - Solidity’s pretty samey, so it’s refreshing to work with languages we use in our day jobs and hobby projects.

Q. Are we talking to Alice or Bob right now?

B. Eve

Q. Do you or your team hold any BOB?

B. We do wish we’d mined more at the start - before mining costs exploded.

B. Last call for questions before I go - anyone else?

Q. How often will you do Q&A sessions in this group

B. We jump on when we can properly answer everyone’s messages. Otherwise we’re away doing other things.
Happy to do these chats more often.

B. Don’t have time to summarize this Q&A ourselves, but anyone who puts it together gets a shoutout! See you around lads

[On behalf of the ICP community] (Not Bobtards)
How is Dfinity abstaining when they didn’t do that for Canistore? It’s one rule for one and one for another. (I’ve heard some disgusting rumours recently about the foundation, that need to come to light IMO)

How much money and cycles has canistore made for the icp ecosystem? This is definitely an exception to the norm. If your project makes up for more that 50% of the revenue going on in the eco then yeah you should have a more lenient SNS process.
I’m not even sure why canistore should even go SNS since I don’t see the proposition of how it can actually make me and the SNS money where you and your team don’t just milk funds from the community. Maybe you should try to the private investors/vc route or non for profit route? If you can actually make the eco money where the governance token benefits from the revenue made I would love to hear it.

Thank you @jennifertran for confirming that if we do not use the community fund we can do an sns without following the checklist.

SNS’ incoming!

I’ve voted to reject with my LORIMER known neuron. I hope proper procedure can be followed by a follow up proposal, after the community has had a chance to digest and evaluate this prospective SNS and its details.

In my opinion, that follow up proposal should link to this forum topic (the current one doesn’t)

This isn’t the first time DFINITY has abstained from voting on a non-compliant SNS proposal. Eventually the community needs to learn to vote responsibly by itself, e.g.

I do see your point though, and I wish the following statement were applied more consistently.
