Of course, any burnings that are preset no matter how small are always good.
I updated the white paper on the website and PDF to incorporate the notion of token burn as discussed today (in chapter “Total supply”). I also reviewed the “Legal umbrella” chapter to include the possibility of registering in Switzerland (previously, it only mentioned the Marshall Islands).
This was provided in this PR.
I’ve been using Juno every day for the past year, and it’s been an essential part of my experience in the ICP ecosystem (with Open Chat being another favorite). I’m thrilled about the opportunity to become a part of the Juno DAO and contribute to this project. Looking forward to being involved in the community and helping drive its success!
You made my day, Konstantin, with your feedback!
Alright, given that there have been no objections so far, let’s be bold—let’s do it live!
Next Monday at 3 PM CET, I’ll be hosting a Juno livestream where we’ll create the proposal for the Juno DAO SNS together using proposals.network
It will either be the start of a great adventure or the final step toward its deprecation, but either way, history will be made!

The proposal to create the Juno Build SNS DAO is now live!
Cast your vote on NNS dapp!
Thanks to everyone who voted “yes” on the proposal to create the Juno Build SNS DAO
The proposal has been executed, and the swap will start this Saturday at 3 PM CET.

The SNS swap has started.
The Juno SNS DAO swap failed. We raised 108K ICP but fell short by 92K ICP.
Now, I’m considering three options:
Retry with a lower target (e.g. 100K ICP)
Hack a bit longer
Kill Juno
I’ll take a few days to reflect and will share my decision soon.
A huge thanks to you, the 488 people who believed in this initiative and shared the vision of what could be a frinctionless cloud computing developer ecosystem
It looks like we have a decision?
I always communicated that I would deprecate Juno if the swap failed as in this blog post published begin of Sept. 2024, but upon popular request, I’ve decided to give it a second thought after it effectively failed yesterday. Therefore, no decision has been made yet.
#3 is not an option. Consider it as bad timing with the current issues being worked on, just take a step back touch grass or in your case that is the equivalent of hacking some more, then relaunch the swap at a later time. I am pretty confident that 90% of us 400+ agree on this so unless you want to be chased down with pitchforks by an angry mob for Halloween* I/we recommend ditching option 3. Thank you for all your hard work.
- wouldn’t worry about it though we all know how hard it is to board a plane with a pitchfork.
There are many people in the community who feel this way. Lets show Juno some love. It is a staple of IC infra.
how about changing the funding model a little bit. do the crowdsale for 100k or whatever. then charge some ICP fees for using the Dapp which the user can pick (with a minimum), which people who successfully use it (define some metrics like launching canisters, etc) get awarded coins at a similar rate to the ICO price up to 100K more in ICP or whatever.
for example, i use Juno to make a Holiday Cards dapp, I decide Juno is worth 10 ICP per month to me. I launch the dapp after 6 months. The dapp awards me 60 ICP worth of Juno tokens. Each month onwards I get awarded more so long as I remain a subscriber.
this way your incentives are aligned with users, and users are incentivized to finish and launch dapps. once the supply runs out, you can switch the pricing to the juno token
