Proposal to Reenable Stoicwallet Support on ICPswap

Introduction:

This proposal requests that ICPswap reenable support for Stoicwallet, which has recently been disabled. For many users, Stoicwallet is the preferred method for logging into ICPswap, and its disablement has created inconvenience and a significant barrier to platform usage. This proposal aims to highlight the community’s demand for Stoicwallet’s return and encourages ICPswap to work with Stoicwallet developers to resolve the underlying issues as quickly as possible.

Background:

Stoicwallet is a widely used wallet solution for ICP, known for its user-friendly experience and secure integration with various platforms, including ICPswap. Recently, support for Stoicwallet on ICPswap was disabled without a clear reason being communicated to users. This has led to frustration and disruption for a significant portion of the community who prefer Stoicwallet over other wallet options.

Why This Proposal is Important:

The absence of Stoicwallet support is a major inconvenience for many users, impacting their ability to interact with ICPswap effectively. Reenabling Stoicwallet would restore accessibility and convenience for a large user base, improving the overall experience on ICPswap and demonstrating responsiveness to community needs.

Requested Action:

The proposal asks that ICPswap:

  1. Collaborate with Stoicwallet developers to identify and address the issues behind the wallet’s disablement.
  2. Reenable Stoicwallet support as soon as possible to minimize ongoing disruption for users.

Call to the Community:

  • Please share your thoughts, feedback, and any additional information that could support the reenabling of Stoicwallet.
  • If you’ve experienced issues with the Stoicwallet disablement, feel free to comment on how this has impacted your ability to use ICPswap.

Your feedback and participation will be valuable in demonstrating community support for this proposal.

Vote on the NNS Motion:

Once the proposal is live, vote to accept or reject the motion to reenable Stoicwallet support on ICPswap.

Thank you for your consideration and support!

Hello sir,

Why was the Stoic wallet not supported?
In the past, many ICPSwap users encountered a ‘Cookies Problem’ when connecting with the Stoic wallet. At that time, we could guide users with older versions of Google Chrome to disable Third-party Storage Partitioning to resolve this issue.

However, this method no longer works with the latest version of Chrome, making it impossible for us to resolve the issue using this approach. Around that time, the Plug team released a feature that supports importing the Stoic wallet, so we recommended users try this method. Additionally, we provided an alternative website solution for Stoic wallets created through Internet Identity (II).

Will the Stoic wallet be reintegrated?
Yes, the Stoic wallet has since been updated with a new connection method that no longer has the ‘Cookies Problem.’ Therefore, we will support the Stoic wallet again. However, our development team is currently focused on testing the limit order feature. We plan to reintegrate the Stoic wallet once this task is completed, which should take a few more days.

Why did this proposal get so many ‘no’ votes from the get go?
Stoic haters? Or good reasons? Let’s hear it then, please.

Could you tell me the technical details either here or in a DM? My libs still run into the Cookies problem

Hi sir,

The new version of the Stoic wallet isn’t integrated yet.

You can use Plug wallet to import your Stoic wallet’s seed phrase right now.

I meant, as a dapp dev, is there a new connection methods besides the existing post message flow? Since you mentioned that there is a new method that no longer has a cookies problem.

If you’re referring to the libraries, please take a look at these two repositories for the Stoic wallet.

Does this help?

I indeed see some changes have been made recently at these repositories, I’ll have a look, thanks!
