@yhabib do you think it would be feasible to allow users to important an arbitrary SNS into their NNS dapp view, much like they can import an arbitrary token.
I’m planning on having numerous acceptance instances of SNSs I plan to launch via the launch pad eventually. Those acceptance instances obviously won’t have been launched via the launchpad, but will be running the full SNS framework (just not on the SNS subnet).
Being able to interact with these via the NNS dapp would make interacting with the acceptance instances much easier, for me but also for users who would like to perform acceptance testing.
I think this is a much needed feature. Do you think it could be implemented easily enough? Maybe the user specifies the root canister (much like specifying the ledger canister when importanting arbitrary tokens).
In my opinion an SNS should be used to govern a specific thing that is valuable enough to keep stakers rewarded for doing so.
The question could be flipped back on you. Why shoehorn multiple completely separate products into a single SNS? Seems absurd, instead of building monocultures (where if you like using one thing and are happy to help govern it, you now need to help governing everything) we should strive to build ecosystems of decoupled but interconnected products (which are each valuable enough to support their own governance structure).
Note that I would still go the launchpad route for each of these production instances, but they would each have an acceptance counterpart.
Regarding acceptance+production SNS pairs, the other side of the answer to your question is - because this is how professional software development is done (particularly if you want users to be involved in signing off changes before they go live). Web 2 knows it, it’s all the more pertinent in Web 3 (but there’s a lack of professionalism in this space and a tendency to cut corners).
This bit is the only thing that’s relevant to this NNS dapp feature request. It’s also worth noting though that if anyone ever wants to launch an SNS but bypass the launchpad for other reasons, it would be useful for them and their users to use the NNS dapp in the same way as for other SNSs (not the launch, but the neuron management).
I do love a good curry, and a curry’s not worth having without the poppadoms. Lime pickle is also a must, and cheese filled naan if you’re lucky enough for it to be on the menu.
It’s like you know me. Not a fan of rugs though - really they should be verifiably impossible (realistically implausible) - that’s not at all what most teams deliver though.
