Intertnet Identity Multi-Language Support

Hi @sea-snake @georgi @marc0olo,

I’ve submitted a PR adding Slovak (sk) locale translation for Internet Identity:

It includes:

  • Complete sk.po file with all 398 UI strings translated
  • Slovak plural forms configured (nplurals=3)
  • Registration of "sk" in availableLocales and enabledLocales

Slovak is spoken by ~5 million native speakers and adding it would help with adoption in Central Europe.

Happy to make any adjustments if needed. Thanks for all the work on multilingual support!

Following up on this thread: in January 2026, the team mentioned that the ~2MB limit in NNS upgrade proposals prevented adding new languages or updating existing translations.

Has this limitation been resolved now? Is the current Internet Identity release and deployment pipeline able to add new locale catalogs, including Simplified Chinese?

Are there any remaining product, release, or review constraints we should be aware of before preparing a Chinese localization proposal?
