I wouldn’t describe it as a ‘basic feature’ because the NNS dapp is a critical component of the ecosystem. This means there’s no room for errors, and a high level of security is required. As a result, certain features might seem “basic” at first glance, but in reality, they are more complex than they appear.
That being said, I’m no longer contributing to the NNS dapp as I’ve moved to a different team, though I still follow its progress from a distance, so based on the commit history, I’ve got the feeling that the team is actively working on it. See for example those merged commits with the keywords “token”: https://github.com/dfinity/nns-dapp/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aclosed+token
Furthermore, the design for enabling users to import any ICRC-1 token into their NNS dapp account was proposed in this post by @chepreghy. Perhaps he can share more about the current status when he’s back at work on Monday.
