Bug on latest update of II v2 with Google Auth

Hi,

Since last night update, Internet Identity v2 has this param missing bug, on Google Auth. Can you please revert or quickly fix? People can’t access their accounts.

Thanks for your speed and attention,

Tiago

We’ve been looking into this issue, unfortunately we haven’t been able to find a solution yet.

To clarify and for whomever is interested in the technical details, here are some of our findings:

  • This issue appears with the FedCM API in Chrome, other browsers don’t seem affected.
  • The FedCM API doesn’t actually have the response_types parameter defined that’s mentioned in the error.
  • This issue doesn’t appear for all users/browser versions.
  • I haven’t been able to narrow down precise criteria yet when the issue occurs.
  • The issue appeared multiple days after the last upgrade proposal was already executed.
  • This proposal didn’t make any changes either in the code related to this flow.

At this point in time, it seems the issue might be browser and/or server related (on Google’s end).

We’ll share an update once we have an update regarding this issue.

In the meantime, authentication should still work in other browsers besides Chrome (e.g. Firefox or Safari).

If you run into this issue in a browser other than Chrome (or Edge), please let me know.

Hey @tiago89, can you ask the affected users to update Chrome (if an update is available) and confirm the issue has been resolved?

The issue seems to have been resolved for the affected users (myself and others) that I’m aware off without any changes to II, so it was likely an issues on Google’s end.

Yes, I confirm it got fixed on me and all other cases.

The mitigation plan of just using other browser while waiting for an update, helped the affected users.

Thanks for your fast help. :folded_hands:
