šŸš€ Announcement: identity.ic0.app & identity.internetcomputer.org → id.ai (Internet Identity 2.0)

I have a few questions.

  1. Is the seed-phrase locked? I notice an option to ā€œresetā€ the seedphrase. The II 1.0 had an option to lock it, where the seed phrase must be entered before resetting in order to protect against a situation where one of perhaps multiple devices was compromised by a bad actor. I see the new II 2.0 has an option to ā€œresetā€ but I don’t dare press it. I assume it asks for confirmation as well input of the existing seed-phrase before resetting?

  2. How can I remove other devices? For example, I had an old II 1.0 with 2 keys - an old ā€œincompatible with 2.0ā€ trezor and a ā€œcompatible with 2.0ā€ yubico key. I just upgraded to 2.0. Now, the yubico key is listed twice, along with the old trezor. How do I remove the duplicate yubico key and trezor? I cannot edit those from the new login screen.

  3. When I connect to II 2, it asks for a ā€œpinā€ from my device. It looks like I can create many different pins, and within that pin i can have sub accounts (many old II 1.0s) that map to it? Is this the correct way to think about it? Perhaps as a tree - the device can have N user accounts, each user account can manage N internet identities?

Thanks

question 2 is answered here

It looks like you can access the legacy II interface at id.ai/legacy. I assume there are no plans to sunset that?

This will be sunset too after the last domain has been switched.

Actually this is an internal route used internally by the old domains, not intended to be visited directly , I’m surprised you found it

Why would you force users to upgrade without providing detailed guidance?
Do you really think every user is a developer?
This is truly unbelievable.

After this round of upgrades, are you actually happier the fewer users there are?
This is simply unbelievable.

I honestly can’t imagine how someone with no technical background could look at the way you treat users and still dare to use your product.

The UI needs work

You built a new product, posted a thread on the forum telling everyone to upgrade, and then just called it a day.
Is this really the right attitude for building a product?

Gotcha!

I created a video only to help others who might get in trouble some way or the other.

Only show, no talk.

This is bullet proof for me and other community members I tested this on.

I only have the II V1.0 number and the II V1.0 recovery phrase, how could I upgrade? I meant directly? possible?

Is there any way to access legacy II? I want to remove a passkey from legacy II but it is greyed out, and i’ve found no way to go to the legacy ii website???

Trying to do the upgrade, ID.ai > Another identity > upgrade… It’s just stuck at Authenticating.

I upgraded, the trick was using a private or incognito browser.

I’m still not happy i can’t use my trezor as a passkey…

PS: since in the latest II update the number of passkeys has been increased to 16 (I’ll remind you that this value was previously 8) - I don’t advise deleting legacy passkeys. There is no need for this yet, and users might accidentally delete something else. DYOR

You can go through the upgrade at id.ai: https://identitysupport.dfinity.org/hc/en-us/articles/40243624646804-How-do-I-migrate-from-Legacy-Identity-to-Internet-Identity-2-0

Or use your recovery phrase at id.ai/recovery and add another passkey in the dashboard afterwards.

This only support the II2.0 recovery phrase, right? since I tried to use the II1.0 version recovery phrase, it just shown:

No identity found

The phrase was entered correctly but belongs to a product other than Internet Identity.

And after I upgrade to II2.0, does it mean that the II1.0 version cannot work and will never work again?

It should support both 1.0 and 2.0 recovery phrases.

Could you please verify that your recovery phrase works at identity.internetcomputer.org?

I’m suspecting that you might be using an older recovery phrase that has been replaced already. But we’ll know for sure after you’ve tried the above.

An upgraded identity will continue to work in 1.0, but keep in mind that 1.0 is being phased out in the coming days so that shouldn’t really be relevant anymore.

not work at all, I have tried three accounts, all not work.

I used three accounts that I never changed the phases.

Will hardware wallets ever be supported?
