Upcoming CLOAD SNS decentralization Sale

Checking the forum thread ( Upcoming CLOAD SNS decentralization Sale ), community from #23 on is asking sharp questions about product progress and listings – e.g., if apps/games are real or fake placeholders, why no updates, and risks of extraction.

Regarding this issue, we had already mentioned it in an earlier post (link). CLOAD only provides project and organizational verification services. If your project matches an official project source, you can obtain the “Officially Verified” label.

Partner verification organizations will also have a separate “Organization Verified” label, which has been reflected in our early code design.
CLOAD is positioned as a fully decentralized platform where anyone can freely upload content. We do not interfere with the content on the platform; our focus is solely on providing content distribution services.

Do you think we’re unprofessional? Kid, if you count our Web2 development experience, our years in the field might match your age. If necessary, we can verify our credentials through DFINITY Foundation endorsement or directly disclose our identity

As someone actively developing a game now, I would be interested to know more about what CLOAD provides for each of them so I dug in deeper.

As a key target audience in the ICP ecosystem’s gaming sector, we have reached out to Dragginz multiple times in the early stages, via both Discord direct messages and X platform comments, but unfortunately, we have not received any response.
Within the Web3 space, CLOAD can offer Dragginz a complete suite of services, including content distribution, high-speed on-chain download channels, virtual item trading platforms, and player-oriented forums for strategy sharing. As part of our business objectives, this is exactly what CLOAD has been committed to building and delivering.

Do you think we’re unprofessional? Kid, if you count our Web2 development experience, our years in the field might match your age. If necessary, we can verify our credentials through DFINITY Foundation endorsement or directly disclose our identity. This isn’t out of fear, but decades of development experience have taught us to maintain necessary caution when building in policy-uncertain environments. Of course, we’ll go public if needed

Yes because clicking follow on x does not equate to 'actually looking deeply into what they are doing and sending a resounding seal of approval’

Firstly, I did not attack, unprovoked or otherwise. I have in the past and will continue to review projects who seek SNS funding. Asking questions is not attacking.

Secondly, I had no idea CLOAD had anything to do with NFTs. It was not listed in any of their posts. I assume it is just a display page that links to NFTs on other chains. I will have a deeper look later on. Toko is not a marketplace for NFTs on other chains so there is no competition there. Being perfectly honest if someone else was trying to solve the issues that NFTs on the Internet Computer have, I would welcome them with open arms.

My main issue with this SNS is that I don’t see what core problem CLOAD is solving. That is fundamental to any successful project. What is CLOAD doing that cannot be accessed anywhere else?

I did download some of the games and I then had to sign up with other chains to play. I do not see how that is benefiting the Internet Computer or providing any service to the game developer. I did get replies from some of the developers I contacted and it appears they are unaware their games are on CLOAD. How is that a service to them?

You are not hosting the games on the IC, you are not allowing people to access these games using ii, oisy, plug or stoic wallets, what is the reason anyone who actively supports the internet computer should put their money into CLOAD?

This is not an attack, its an honest question that as a potential investor I would require answering.

As to anonymity, this community has been repeatedly burned by SNS projects who hid behind psuedonyms. If you are hoping to raise any level of serious funding, you will need to be doxxed for people to have faith in you.

If you really are trying to integrate projects with the IC, then you will get support, but unless I am mistaken you are using some canisters to store files and hoping that is enough to say you are building on the internet computer.

Thank you for your questions and suggestions.

We’ve addressed most points in earlier posts, and we kindly encourage that any public conclusions be based on thorough, evidence-driven review; likewise, we hope to avoid misunderstandings stemming from non-existent issues.

At present, CLOAD is delivering on-chain in-app item trading; the Marketplace is on our development roadmap, and we’re actively integrating widely used ICP NFT standards, with releases coming soon.

To clarify our positioning: across ICP—and broadly in blockchain—we have yet to see a truly fully decentralized, large-file–capable one-stop solution. CLOAD aims to provide decentralized application hosting and distribution for Web3 developers, while progressively enabling on-chain item trading within projects.

A simple analogy: hosting a Web3 app on a centralized service (e.g., AWS) is like building a “decentralized free city” on someone else’s land—the house is yours, but the landowner can reclaim, lock, or restrict access at any time. This is why we believe CLOAD is necessary: we’re working to build a genuinely decentralized application stack.

It is important to clarify that CLOAD is fully deployed and deeply integrated on the ICP, while also supporting interoperability with projects and files from other blockchains. This means that, at present, only ICP’s Canisters can truly achieve fully decentralized application storage and trading. For applications on other blockchains to reach this level of decentralization, they must integrate with ICP, allowing ICP to host and support their decentralized storage and trading capabilities.

in the early stages, no project can instantly build a complete ecosystem or achieve deep integration. TikTok, for example, began as a simple video hosting and distribution platform without today’s sophisticated social features, monetization systems, or creator economy. It was only after it delivered an efficient distribution experience and steadily built up a rich content library that it attracted massive user traffic, eventually developing into a mature ecosystem with a sustainable business model.

CLOAD follows a similar path. While we certainly hope that all blockchains can be accessed directly through ICP wallets, achieving this goal across the board in the short term is not realistic. Our mission is not to replace a developer’s existing chain, but to leverage ICP technical advantages to provide a more secure, efficient, and open infrastructure for distribution and interaction. This allows more users and content to naturally flow into ICP, fostering the ecosystem’s long-term growth.

On what chain?

That is because Dragginz is running fully on-chain (on the internet computer to be specific) already, which is clearly stated on their x profile, website and pretty much every forum post I have ever made about it…

Whats sorts of files are those ‘Recommended Projects’ storing on CLOAD?

Can you comment on why the developers of those games appear to be unaware of CLOAD (as mentioned by @Thyassa)?

Please also point me to the code for the upload and download of files and I’ll follow the logic through. Is this an unstructured document store or are there any structured storage options? Are there CRUD endpoints? Are the files indexed and searchable, or do they need to be downloaded again to make use of them?

Running through the typical endpoints one of those ‘Recommended Projects’ are using, and how that helps them deliver what they’re delivering, would be very useful (assuming they are unwittingly using CLOAD).

Thanks.

At the current stage, we are about to launch on-chain transaction functionality based on ICP, and we also plan to gradually enable interoperability with other major public blockchains.

If Dragginz adopts a similar model, we would fully support and endorse such an approach. However, the reality is that many applications — including projects within the ICP ecosystem as well as those on other blockchains — still lack this kind of architecture and cross-chain capability.

CLOAD mission is to provide these projects with a stable, high-performance decentralized distribution and storage infrastructure, allowing them to retain their original chain characteristics while leveraging ICP to achieve truly decentralized hosting and cross-chain collaboration.

Please upload a file yourself. After that, you can see which canister your file is stored in. Here is a user manual. Please upload and try it yourself, and your problems will be easily solved.

A Super DAPP - CLOAD (User Manual)

Most of the project files currently stored on CLOAD are executable formats, such as APK or EXE.
As I previously mentioned (reference), anyone can freely upload content to the platform, and we do not interfere with the content itself. However, to ensure compliance and file security, CLOAD operates with two verification modes:

Project Source Verification – If your project matches the official project source, it will receive the “Official Source Verified” label.

Organization Verification – Partner verification agencies have a separate “Organization Verified” label.

Only projects that are source-verified or organization-verified are displayed and recommended on the homepage. This policy is also clearly stated in our platform’s Verified guidelines.

In the past, we launched campaigns inviting users to upload projects and complete tasks in exchange for reward points. This means that some uploaded projects may not have been submitted by their original creators. In keeping with our free-upload and non-intervention principles, we only verify whether the project source matches official channels.

If the original project owner contacts us through official means, we may choose to remove the verification for that project or establish an organization verification partnership with them.

In simple terms, the file is first processed locally to generate a list of indexed shards, each marked with a SHA-256 hash according to predefined rules. The core Canister then reviews permissions and registers these shard indexes. Next, the shard files are submitted to available distributed storage Canisters, which send a verification request to the core Canister to confirm that the upload/download operation complies with access rules. Once verified, the files are officially stored.

You can view the complete Canister code for file upload, storage, and download here:

This code clearly demonstrates the transmission logic.

To ensure greater openness, transparency, and verifiability, we use a visualized sharding approach during the transmission process for a more intuitive display. Each file contains indexed, queryable segments. Once the transfer is complete, you can click on any block, and the system will automatically copy its ID and redirect you to the query page.

In our fileCanister.mo, we have made the queryChunkID method publicly available, so you can try it yourself

We are open to any questions and willing to respond. While some feedback may sound offensive, we understand that this is an inevitable part of developing a project, and we welcome diverse voices! However, before you ask questions or provide feedback, please try our product yourself according to the user manual, and then proceed with your inquiries. Have a nice day!

Hey ive been digging through your documentation I want to make sure I understand the model:

You are offering distrobution, but the developer only pays for storage rather than sales commissions etc…

So for example if im a game developer and my game is on steam or whatever, steam is taking a 30% cut.

**CLOAD is offering to take ?0%? Of sales?

And the developer only owes cload ~5$ per gb per year. Is that accurate?

And cload will manage distrobution and crypto payments? Is all of this accurate?

So the service provided is visibility via your storefront, processing of crypto payments? and extremely competitive fees (0% commissions on sales)

Did i get it all right?

You can find detailed information about commission distribution, as well as developer storage and transfer costs, in our whitepaper.

Currently, CLOAD’s commission rate is 0%, though this can be adjusted in the future through DAO voting. However, we do not recommend initiating proposals for high commissions, especially in the project’s early development stage, as maintaining low fees helps attract more developers to the ICP ecosystem.

Regarding storage costs, the rate is approximately $5 per GB per year, which aligns with ICP’s pricing model. In addition, during file transfers, users need to cover the cost of updating and uploading. At the current stage, CLOAD covers the cost of file downloads.

If you upload a free project, you only need to pay for storage and upload costs. If your project is paid, you can collect payments through CLOAD’s integrated payment system. Moreover, CLOAD is adding support for in-app on-chain item payments, and the revenue share for these transactions may also be determined through DAO voting.

I see. So your strategy is to acquire a solid user base with no commissions, and then move to a model that is sustainable after establishing a userbase. Sounds reasonable.

Do you have any numbers you could publish in regards to projected revenue/storage. And what strategies you are employing to acquire users?

I see on your dashboard currently ~15GiB is stored.

Other random questions:

I see in your app that there is option for users to refund purchases: what is the process for this between the vendor and the customer ( how can you gaurantee availability of funds?)

**how will you deal with people uploading (and selling) materials that potentially do not belong to them? **

how will you prevent distrobution of malware? And manage regional issues?

I know its s lot of questions because this project is interesting.

CLOAD: More Than Just File Storage
but in reality, this is just one of our many core functions.
CLOAD is a fully featured decentralized platform for applications and content distribution, covering social networking, app marketplace, on-chain trading, and storage, providing a complete one-stop Web3 solution for both users and project teams.

  1. Social System
CLOAD offers a robust on-chain social experience that connects communities and projects:

For Users: Post updates like on X, share or sell NFTs and on-chain items, view others’ posts, and follow favorite projects or creators.

For Projects: Publish real-time updates, announcements, and event details to grow engagement.

Instant Messaging: Direct messaging enables quick communication between users and projects to address needs and questions in real time.

2.App Marketplace
A decentralized app distribution platform that makes publishing and using apps more open and flexible:

For Users: Browse apps on the homepage or recommendations, view details and reviews, purchase or bookmark favorites.

For Projects: List apps on CLOAD, accept payments via the integrated payment system, and access real-time project analytics. Currently supports ICP and ckBTC payments.

  1. Trading System
A transparent transaction flow designed to protect user rights:

Refund requests allowed within 48 hours of purchase (with reason provided).

Handled by the project owner; if no action is taken in time, refunds are processed automatically.

If the refund is denied, users may appeal to CLOAD’s official team for review and resolution.

  1. On-Chain Trading (Coming Soon)
CLOAD will enable integrated on-chain NFT trading:

For Users: Download an app on CLOAD and trade its NFTs directly from the project page — no switching between multiple platforms.

For Projects: Avoid high centralized fees and complicated processes. Manage the entire flow — project creation → file upload → in-app item trading — in one place, keeping users within your ecosystem.

  1. Decentralized Storage Service
One of CLOAD’s core pillars, built on a Core Canister + Cycles Canister architecture managing over 40 distributed storage nodes, supporting massive concurrent transfers:

High-Performance Transfers: SHA256-based encrypted distributed chunking ensures secure and efficient file handling.

For Users: Store files in the CLOAD drive at the same transfer/storage rates as ICP. Features include categorized viewing, file search, storage space statistics, and shareable links.

For Projects: Host apps or games on CLOAD with built-in content distribution, payments, analytics, and download services — all for minimal storage costs.

  1. Convenience & Ecosystem Features
CLOAD enhances the overall user and project experience with multiple quality-of-life improvements:

Multi-language support

Visualized chunk transfer progress

Curated collections of top projects

Cycles tracking and management

Personalized user features

App downloads without requiring wallet connection

In the early stages, we may introduce promotional offers and low-cost services to attract users. For regular users, we provide free content publishing, free trials of encrypted cloud storage, occasional airdrop events, and various project-related benefits.

For project owners, benefits include low storage costs, zero revenue-sharing fees, 5T of free Cycles storage, one-click creation and release of NFT items on CLOAD, and convenient project and NFT asset management tools.

Users are allowed to request a refund within 48 hours of purchase (with a provided reason). The request will be processed by the project owner; if no action is taken in time, the refund will be processed automatically. If a refund request is denied, the user may appeal to the CLOAD official team for review and resolution.

For non-compliant project owners, we may revoke their verification, resulting in their projects and applications being removed from primary listings and having limited visibility and traffic.

In line with our decentralized principles, we generally do not interfere with user-uploaded content. Since verifying every project’s creator is challenging, if the actual creator contacts us through official channels, we will revoke the project’s verification. Unverified projects will not appear on main pages; users must actively search for them. These projects will also carry a risk warning to remind users to download with caution.

In the initial stage, to facilitate promotion, we will charge a 0% handling fee and also provide free upload space, as well as project certification and exposure.

If users become active and trading volume increases, we will raise the handling fee, but it will not exceed 5%. As you know, Steam usually takes more than 30% and charges on a tiered basis. Later, we may collect handling fees to maintain the platform’s operation and repurchase tokens.

The CLOAD team’s responses in the thread emphasize their verification services for projects and organizations, utilizing labels such as “Officially Verified” and “Organization Verified” to match content with official sources. They position the platform as fully decentralized, allowing open content uploads without team interference. Additionally, they defend their anonymity by citing policy uncertainties in certain regions, while asserting their extensive Web2 development experience and willingness to verify credentials through DFINITY or disclose identities if required for trust-building purposes.

However, these responses do not address key criticisms raised, including the invalid Neurons’ Fund request in the YAML file (which would cause the proposal to fail under the ongoing pause), unresolved user fund losses from wallet bugs, persistent delays in product development, absence of security audits, or a clear demonstration of progress beyond the stagnant version observed since late 2024. There is no engagement with concerns regarding the roadmap’s misalignment with actual delivery or the overall sustainability of the project.

In conclusion:

  1. I do not see personally the business case or how this advances the ICP ecosystem.

  2. I do not fundamentally believe something useful will come out of this SNS as I set a high standard for the SNS since the last few were pure extractions, the tide has turned, I will vote no and advocate for it, you may not like it, but that is my final decision after dealing with you and the team for the last 2 years.

Cheers,

Dexter
