Upcoming CANI DAO SNS Swap

Licensing creative works across borders is often complex and time-consuming, making it harder for creators to monetize their content. Inconsistent intellectual property laws, especially in places like the EU, only add to the challenge. Without streamlined processes, securing rights and earning profits becomes tough.

Creators are vital to a vibrant cultural landscape, but financial barriers limit their ability to share their work, restricting public access to culture.

Traditional revenue models, like streaming platforms, pay artists poorly per stream and lack diverse ways to monetize content like merchandise or live events.

That’s where Cani comes in by offering fresh monetization options like direct licensing, fan support, and community-driven revenue sharing. It’s about creators keeping more of what they earn and building closer, more meaningful connections with their audience.

Thanks for the reply.

  1. Will you clarify this properly before the SNS launch? “A good %” and “Should be used” is really vague. Also, what is your plan/roadmap for DEX/CEX?

What is the revenue model for just holding the token when you not a creator?
Will token holders receive % of royalties?

Hey @Trils, appreciate the follow up!

Apologies for the delay, I’ve been interviewing musicians all day. We have signed a 6 month agreement with a marketing agency who have taken over our social media and content creation.

You’re right let me give better clarity.

3. Yes we’ll be giving exact numbers pre-SNS, we are completing last bits including our yaml init file. There are a few things I’ve analysed with previous SNS’s that I would like CANI to do different.

A. Provide enough liquidity for easy trading.
B. SNS success means go time, marketing, scaling, creating that all-round heat. For me this would attract a lot more attention to the token and confidence in the project especially after a launch.

Reputable DEXs will be our first target to build a solid foundation. CEX listings are definitely on our radar, and we’ll share a more detailed roadmap as things progress.

We want all CANI holders to benefit, not just the creators.
Staking and governance I would say are standard for solid projects in this space, but we have the opportunity todo more. Remember the Community Label? Our early supporters know, CANI holders will have a unique opportunity to collaborate with creators and share revenue. Look out for the next update on our roadmap! Just like our white paper, it will keep evolving as we experience more.

It’s all about giving CANI holders a real voice and some exciting advantages. We’ll share more details as we get closer to launch, but you’ll have complete transparency on the liquidity side of things before the SNS goes live.

Fair enough, looking forward to more details pre-SNS launch! :sunglasses:

Q&A: Understanding $CANI Token

1. How can $CANI tokens utilize creators and content?

Cani tokens empower creators to own and control their work while facilitating instant transactions for purchases. This maximizes usability, enabling various user scenarios such as:

• Content sales and licensing
• Offline ticketing for events
• Online concerts and live streams
• NFTs and merchandise
• Donation and gifts

2. Why do creators need $CANI?

Creators benefit from:
• Direct and Instant Payments: Bypass intermediaries, ensuring instant and transparent revenue streams.
• Increased Earnings: Retain a larger share of their income without middlemen.
• Traceable Transactions: Blockchain-based tracking ensures transparency and accountability.

3. How does $CANI ensure token legalization?

$CANI will adhere to Swiss DLT laws, guaranteeing the token operates within a robust and regulated framework. This legal entity will build trust and opens opportunities for global adoption.

4. What is the core value of $CANI?

$CANI’s core value lies in:
• Massive User Adoption: Designed for creators and users alike, providing widespread platform engagement.
• Legalized and User-Freedom-Friendly Platform: Offering a regulated yet flexible environment.
• Token at the Core: $CANI integrates deeply into platform services.

Music, art, and content transcend borders, and with ownership and licensing returning to the creators, users are naturally drawn to the platform. This shift will empower creators, building up trust and engagement, which I belive, in turn significantly amplifies the value and adoption of $CANI. Early $CANI holders will find substantial benefits as the platform expands and adoption rises.

Most recent SNS proposals were often rejected because, among few reasons I guess, their developer voting power at genesis would have exceeded 50% of the total voting power, which would have meant that those SNSes would not have been decentralized.

I just double-checked the SNS YAML you shared in the SNS Tokenomics Analyzer, and your voting power is right at the limit (49.8%). It’s fine, but you might want to keep a close eye on it before submitting your proposal to ensure it targets a decentralization. Hope that helps!

Hi @peterparker, thank you for pointing that out!

I wondered about your thoughts on the below.

As stated in our tokenomics, we have a few distributions to do. For example, Cani Club NFT holders will have 13% across 10 years, and round 1 participants will receive 5-6% across 3 years. Regarding the yaml file, these percentages are all in the treasury because the dev neuron (team 17%) can not be a higher value than the treasury. Our tokenomics state that our treasury will be 30%

We planned to keep all these distributions in the treasury, then once active, send in proposals to distribute to neurons with the relevant vesting periods etc.

Would this be the correct way?

Honestly, I have no idea . I hope someone more knowledgeable on the matter can answer your questions.

Understanding CANI DAO

  • CANI DAO is a decentralized platform designed for independent musicians and content creators to publish and license through a DAO organization.
  • cani_dao module manages the DAO organization, including the creation and governance of user music domains. This module facilitates the coordination of the Cani ecosystem, holding decentralized decision-making.
  • The CANI DAO manages and creates the cani_id_domain, which represents the personal music space of any artist.
  • The cani_dao canister ID for the production is tlcef-5iaaa-aaaas-akjmq-cai.

The Power of CANI DAO to be unlocked:

Proposal Creation
Any $CANI token holder can propose changes, enhancements, or new initiatives for the ecosystem.

Community Voting
Token holders vote on proposals, giving every participant a voice in decisions about platform upgrades, partnerships, and resource allocation.

Feature Prioritization
Decide on new features for Cani platforms (CaniStore, CaniPlay, and CaniLive, etc) to better serve creators and users.

Ecosystem Expansion
Approve collaborations, integrations, or expansions to other Web3 platforms, ensuring a broader reach.

Incentive Structures
Define and adjust staking rewards, engagement incentives, and other mechanisms to maintain a healthy token economy.

Creator Support Programs
Initiate programs that provide financial, technical, or promotional support to artists and content creators within the ecosystem.

Ownership Advocacy
Promote decentralized ownership and fair licensing practices, keeping creators retaining control of their work.

Transparency and Accountability
Regularly report on the DAO’s decisions and financial activities, maintaining transparency within the community.

By enabling the community to steer the platform, Cani DAO will focus on evolving the ecosystem to meet the needs of users while staying true to its mission of empowering creativity and driving widespread adoption.

The CANI SNS proposal is now live on the NNS!

Currently, the proposal shows 63% treasury. To keep things in 3 neurons as the yaml init file template is set (treasury, dev, swap), we have grouped 4 distributions.

Current 63% treasury: 30% Treasury + 13% Club Cani members + 10% Fundraising + 10% marketing and community development = 63%

One of the first proposals will be to separate these distributions:

13% - Club Cani - Lock up / vesting across 10 years
10% - Fundraising - Lock up / vesting across 2 & 3 years
10% - Marketing and community development can be distributed directly from treasury based on individual proposals.

This is all stated in our tokenomics, check it out for a deeper dive.

Hello @Canistore,

Why not open-source your previous repos as well?

It would be great if you could outline your technical architecture a bit more.

I am currently reviewing this repo: GitHub - Canistore/CANI_DAPP: CANI_DAPP which seems to be the only repo that pertains to your dapp. Please let me know if you are planning to open-source any other repos.

  1. Has the canistore_frontend been updated? I cannot find all of the frontend code for the three dapps.

(Also, without this, it is a bit hard to understand which code is being used for which app. Can you better explain this as well?)

  1. You mention the cani_oss_bucket and cani_id_domain modules; can you please point them to us in the code base?

FYI you can also use the SNS Tokenomics Analyzer: https://dashboard.internetcomputer.org/sns/tokenomics?proposal=134422 to see the overview.

Hi @jennifertran

We’ve opened more code at your request. Initially, we opened the back-end as that holds much of the value.

We’ve also opened the ‘OSS Bucket’ (previously private) and the ‘Identity Domain’ (previously titled ‘space’). Now our back-end code is 100% open source. Please note that we are building nonstop making improvements as we speak hence just opening more.

CaniSafe App frontend:

CaniStore App frontend:

Pointing out 2 main components:
OSS Bucket:

Identity Domain:

CaniPlay front-end has had two updates and we’ll need some time to organise and tidy the code. So we’ll open the CaniPlay front-end post-SNS.

Everything else is open now.

Please note that originally our project name was Canistore, we rebranded to CANI with CaniStore now being an app within the CANI ecosystem. I’ve titled the links above for CaniSafe and CaniPlay to avoid confusion.

Analyzer being added shortly, the latest result comes back with reduced dev neuron voting power from the limit of 49.8 down to 46.8 (mentioned by @peterparker).

Hi all,

I’ve just added our announcement video to the post above which just went live on X, watch it here: x.com

Hello @Canistore, you should open source code for all of your dapp canisters sufficiently before the proposal, as the code will be owned by the community.

The community should be able to review the code before they make a decision for the SNS.

Hi @jennifertran we are opening the final part (CaniPlay front-end) in the next few hours. That would make us 100% open source.

This doesn’t give the community much time to review it. Other SNS proposals have been rejected for similar reasons.

Hi @jennifertran,

Please refer to,

CaniPlay App frontend:

We truly understand the importance of being open-source to the community. The core value of our development so far heavily relies on the backend service, which has been open-sourced since the post was created weeks ago.

The frontend is primarily for display purposes, but as part of the deployed canisters, we are committed to updating it to meet all demands. We sincerely apologize if there was any uncertainty.

Thank you for the update.

It seems these repositories were just created (in the last 24 hours), given that the applications appear to have been running for some time.

Are these the actual codebases? If so, why were the previous repositories discarded?
