With CANI, you share your creations and build a community directly with your fans, which takes the heat out of having to wrangle social media algorithms to get ahead. This means you can forge a closer relationship with your audience and receive a more significant share of the profits when you sell your work.

The Platform with Everything You Need: CANI offers a whole suite of tools to help you succeed:

CaniSafe: A super secure digital wallet to protect your work and your money. It is your personal secure vault that contains your creative assets while tracking revenue and usage.

CaniStore: The online shop where you sell your creations, from downloads to merchandise to managing your copyrights. Define your prices and keep more of your proceeds.

The Back story

After 23 years in the music industry, COVID-19 led me to discover the Internet computer. After receiving an invitation, I joined Dfinity’s Tungsten event on June 30th 2020.
From the moment I discovered on-chain storage, I knew I could solve many issues I faced personally within the music and entertainment industry. Starting with the protection and management of Copyrights.

I started my career in South London as a performing artist in 2001. Things kicked off pretty quickly with independent record deals and tours around the UK and Europe with Mad Professor (Ariwa Records - King of Dub). As a natural problem solver, I gathered other skills to rely less on others, which took me into songwriting and producing.

In 2005, I opened my first recording studio and over the next decade, expanded to three studios. These spaces became a thriving hub for emerging talent, many of whom have achieved great success, including Krept and Konan, Lethal B, Cassius Henry, Nathan, and others. Later in my career, I transitioned to artist management and opened a music venue in Central London. This venue became a vital space for London’s urban music community, providing DJs, creatives, and promoters with a central platform to host events at a time when similar opportunities in the area were becoming increasingly scarce.

The birth of CANI

September 2020 saw the birth of CaniStore which would later grow into the CANI Ecosystem. Here you can enjoy a thread of our achievements over the years. We are one of the OG brands of the IC (pre-genesis), also one of few projects on the IC to win awards and host events IRL around the world.

Hello Barry and the @Canistore Team,

  1. Your team has been around for a while. However, it looks like the main repo for your platform has only had updates since last week. Is there any reason for this?

  2. You mentioned this but please provide your SNS.yaml init file when it is ready.

  3. Can you please confirm that you already launched a token?

Based on your whitepaper, you minted 100 million tokens to fundraise Rounds 1 and 2.

Hi @jennifertran,

Thank you for your reply of important questions, I’ll answer each point:

  1. We have a few repos, after thorough organising and sorting we created a new one for open-source purposes. We are happy to give access to our original repos that have history. In our Achievement Thread you will also see 4 examples of public tests and successful Dfinity grants that required a thorough examination of our code.

  2. I’ll be sharing our SNS.yaml init file this week. A % of the information from the file is spread across what is currently available i.e Tokenomics.

  3. We’re excited about the upcoming SNS token launch! While we haven’t released a token yet, our early supporters from our initial funding round in May 2021 have SAFT agreements with a 3-year lockup/vesting period, demonstrating their long-term commitment to our project. June 2021 announcement

Earlier this year we explored opening a second funding round but quickly realised our community’s strong preference for utilising the SNS. We value this feedback and decided to close our second round, decline the applications we did have, and focus our efforts on integrating with the SNS. We will be updating our tokenomics moving round 2’s distribution (4%) to the treasury.

  1. Our team would like to offer the community at least two weeks to take in our project, check out the code, analyse the tokenomics and use the dApps. The community can currently enjoy content shared by creators from around the world. We also have a few updates to publish over the next week or so, one being we discovered that files above 40mb struggle to play smoothly on CaniPlay’s Radio channels.

Pretty exciting concept, an all in one tool. Saw some cool features listed on the tokenomics page, incorparating AI and such. :sunglasses:

  1. when reading i saw with CaniPlay: * Migrate to 100% on chain
    You not fully on-chain yet? What is the timeline on this and why is it not fully on-chain yet?

  2. for CaniStore: * Launch the CaniStore platform.
    What is the timeline on this?

  3. In your tokenomics there is also no mention or roadmap for listing on CEX/DEX or any liquidity towards the community LP’s (Unless i missed it). Previous SNS projects have come under heavy fire for not setting aside a percentage of the ICPs raised from the SNS to support CEX/DEX liquidity.
    Are there any plans for that?

Hey @Trils thanks for checking out CANI!

  1. CaniPlay is now 100% onchain. We had a previous version that was not.

  2. The entire ecosystem is active with users, we currently are onboarding creators from around the world. Every song on CaniPlay comes from a user with a CaniSafe. Many have also created licences on CaniStore. Transactions using ICP will be active shortly.

  3. A good % of ICP raised in the SNS swap should be used for liquidity. Our tokenomics are based on the CANI token and not the ICP raised. We are currently setting up a Swiss entity, that will be used to raise fiat funding for operations. That way, a smaller % of ICP is needed for other things.
