Unpopular feature request for II

Give us an additional simple login method that doesn’t require google dependencies.

This could be something like username and password. This way I can log in on secure devices that aren’t bloated with spyware.

If a user chooses this login method, just give them a security warning. I can handle my own system security, I don’t need II to hold my hand and force me to use security compromising dependencies.

I wasn’t able to create an II on GrapheneOS.

I wasn’t able to create an II on QubesOS.

Now I can’t even login on my old Google bloat devices anymore (worked perfectly for years), without switching to other browsers that I had to download only to access my funds again.

Please give us anything.

hi Anon,
Can you confirm whether physical HSM work with these systems? (YubiKey, etc?)
If you don’t trust any cloud service, this might be the only option available until Linux learns to work nicely with TPM. But again, not sure how this would fit into QubesOS architecture with isolated VMs for every app.

I tried it with a Nitrokey 3A. I was able to create an account and while doing that I was logged in correctly once. After logout I could not get back in anymore.

Here is my thread regarding QubesOS:
