Unknown transient reason error on identity creation attempt

Which one do you choose? “This device” and then it fails?

Correct, yes, it’s the only option that is supposed to work for me

I still can’t think of why it’s failing in Internet Identity, webauthn.me but not in webauthn.io.

Can you try the following page again: https://tigcr-biaaa-aaaaj-qnera-cai.icp0.io/

This one I created for testing different things, but it would be interesting to know whether it works for you. Click directly in “Authenticate with Passkey”.

Let me know how it goes.

You mentioned trying that link again, I believe it’s the first time I’m accessing it. Anyway, I accessed the page and the “Authenticate with Passkey” option does not show up to me, only to register, where I get this error:

Oops, sorry. Yes, I meant for the first time.

Don’t write anything in the input. Just click “Register New Passkey”.

That’s fine

I got this now:

Same error…

I’ll see if I make some changes to this demo app and ask you to try again and see if I find the reason why it’s not working.

Thanks!

I pushed some changes.

Do you mind trying again in https://tigcr-biaaa-aaaaj-qnera-cai.icp0.io/ ?

Remember to add nothing within the input. Just click in “Register New Passkey”

Thanks!

Got the same error

Can you explain a bit why pasting public key strings isn’t an option? This is seems unnecessarily convoluted to me, but I might just not understand the goal here. Or, why not use a regular 2FA authenticator app?

Most times it works. I’m surprised.

Pasting public keys would be very similar to user passwords. You would need to remember them, etc etc.

Check this article on why passkeys are the future.

I am sorry, but I can’t understand why your device can’t log in there… I’m running out of ideas.

Do you have any other device you can try it with?

That was an interesting read, thank you! I do not have another device though
