I think the first step to enhancing security is to add the ability for users to follow their own neurons.
The granular voting will take more time and allow for anyone with a large following to gather more vp. So the quick deterrent should be implemented

If wtn has .005% of the nns, i dont care if they have granular voting.
If they have 10% (in the future) its a big problem. So they should solve it now.
Heres the big problem if a group has 51% they have no incentive to change it!
This doesn’t solve the problem at all. Remember that the WaterNeuron 8yr and 6mo neurons are controlled by a canister, controlled by those voting on WTN proposals (not necessarily the mirrored NNS proposals).
This would be unnecessary complexity, and just postponing a proper fix
The reason this issue has been raised is because wtn rejected adams proposal to remove old nodes.
That was triggered because too many people followed one person. By allowing users to follow their own neurons it does solve a portion of the problem while the more complex and technical solution get worked out.
Why not add extra measures to help encourage users to vote for themselves?

I am starting to think that @wpb hints “Yes we control WTN. We will trade proportional representation in WTN for making NNS neurons allow split votes, so we work our way to get proportional representation somewhere else. Until we get that trade we word-salad our way through the argument” So WTN and 50% of its investors are held hostage and what you would expect from Wenzel is that after that trade, his side will end up with a lot more voting power. Good thing is, that’s just a liquid staking protocol and there can be other.

Its based on known neurons and it shows the direct and indirect vp.
As well as it shows the amount of followers each known neuron has.
Between the people you do not like they hold about 29% vp for nns proposal votes.

You own 5.71% of the vp, so its not even possible for david fisher to own 22%vp as the whales in total own 30% of the overall vp in wtn. So unless there is a following that isn’t being shown, you are wrong.
