Hi All!
I’m Roald, and I will be submitting a proposal to register 0X52 as a node provider, taking over excess nodes in TO1 from Blockchain Development Labs. This handover statement is being added to the Wiki and a forum post by BDL will follow.
I’m on Element as: @-roald:matrix.org
Hi @roald-av8, could I ask why you’re proposing to register a new NP? Why not take on the excess nodes as an existing NP? My apologies if I’ve misunderstood your situation.
Are you not the founding member of Aviate Labs? I’m only asking because I’d really like to understand this sort of thing better. What’s the motivation for founding another NP?
I’m onboarding as part of the 48-mo transition process, having acquired BDL’s excess nodes with my own entity 0X52. Aviate Labs was founded to formalize contract work in ICP (mine and others) but is not a node provider.
Over the past year, my main focus has shifted away from Aviate Labs. However, I remain engaged in infrastructure developments, as the potential there excites me most in the long run. Running my own nodes seems only logical (to me) as I’m familiar with the Gen1 spec, and it justifies my continued involvement in the community while working on other things. Hope this clarifies!
Thanks for explaining further. I had mistaken Aviate Labs for an NP itself. By contract work, does this mean that other NPs contract Aviate Labs to manage their NP affairs for them? If you’re able to point me to any futher context so that I can read up, that would be much appreciated.
The best to comment on the current roadmap & activities of Aviate Labs is @louisevelayo, I can only comment on the work I did: before Genesis, I helped out Allusion with racking & stacking of their nodes and providing minimal support with onboarding, as Dfinity’s DRE team was much more hands-on back then. At the time, NP’s were pinged when a node failed or was underperforming, around 2022 the DRE team got more hands-off, prompting requests from some NP’s for a monitoring solution. That’s when we launched Node Monitor, the service fully relies on public node status data. An updated version, where I’m not actively involved, would rely on “trustworthy node metrics” and anticipate penalties. Hope that clarifies my position further!
Thanks @roald-av8, I’ll take a closer look at what Aviate Labs does and who for when I get a chance.
Do you mind if I ask what the arrangement has been between you and BDL for acquiring those nodes. Have you purchased them from BDL, or is there another sort of agreement?

This proposal registers a new NP 0X52.
Forum Introduction
Self-Declaration, Proof of Identity and Signed Node Handover documents are on the wiki, and a link is provided in the list of self declarations.
Hashes mentioned in the proposal match what is on the wiki and what I have computed locally. The same is true for the node handover statement which is not part of the proposal (and is not a requirement), but is on the self declaration page of 0X52.
0x52 entity is registered in the Belgian registry of businesses and enterprises
About Aviate Labs
Aviate Labs is a team dedicated to supporting node providers since 2020. Our mission is to make high-performance infrastructure management on the Internet Computer (ICP) as seamless as possible, while adhering to the principles of decentralization.
We are known for our contributions to the ecosystem, including the go-agent and developer work packages on GitHub, as well as the Node Monitortool, which alerts Node Providers as soon as any of their nodes go down.
In the NNS, our team—Roald, Louise, and Quint—reviews and votes independently on ‘Node Admin’ and ‘Participant Management’ proposals. Currently we don’t vote at all on other proposals.
The Aviate Labs known neuron is configured to follow our team for these topics and other trusted entities for broader proposals. We strive to be a credible and reliable Followee, committed to voting on every proposal and supporting decentralization within the ICP ecosystem.

This proposal adds a new node operator ID for node provider Arceau NP LLC. The addition of the new node operator ID is consistent with the processes outlined in the current thread for reconfiguring existing Gen-1 nodes under the new remuneration structure. The node provider does not yet have any nodes registered but intends to acquire 28 nodes, consistent with the agreed maximum of 42, the statement of intent here and handover statement here.
