NeuronPool: Stake your ICP, join the pool and win big rewards!

Hi all,

Today I wanted to introduce https://neuronpool.com/ on the forums. A new project I have been working on for some time.

FAQs

What is NeuronPool?

NeuronPool is a web3 application built and running on the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) blockchain. Users can pool their ICP tokens, which is staked in a neuron on the Network Nervous System (NNS). The staking rewards from this neuron are disbursed to one lucky winner every 14 days. Instead of small incremental rewards, users have a chance to win big.

How does NeuronPool work?

The NeuronPool smart contract (canister) controls an NNS neuron that votes on governance proposals and earns staking rewards. Users can add to the stake of this neuron. The canister checks for new staking rewards every 14 days, selects a winner using a weighted selection algorithm (the higher your stake, the higher your chances of winning), and disburses the reward to them.

Why stake with NeuronPool?

Staking small amounts of ICP typically results in a low APR, making it less appealing. NeuronPool offers an opportunity to earn significant rewards with a stake as low as 0.1 ICP. Instead of receiving small, incremental rewards, users have a chance to win the staking rewards from a large pool. NeuronPool provides a new option for users who wish to stake and earn rewards, especially those with small amounts of ICP.

Where do the rewards come from?

The NeuronPool smart contract controls a neuron on the Network Nervous System (NNS). This neuron votes on governance proposals and earns ICP rewards for doing so. The ICP rewards come from the NNS / the ICP network.

Developing NeuronPool

I thought of the idea for NeuronPool a while back as I wanted to build something that could bring value to Stakers with low amounts of ICP - NeuronPool is not supported by any VC funding or Dfinity grants and is meant to be a public good. I wanted to help push ICP / Motoko DeFi forward so I decided to build this open-source under MIT. I created a Motoko package to help with managing and staking neurons in canisters (Mops • Motoko Package Manager) and I used it to help build NeuronPool. The main NeuronPool smart contract is also open-source at GitHub - neuronpool-technologies/neuronpool: Repository for the NeuronPool service smart contract.

Love the concept behind NeuronPool, and it’s great to see more options for ICP staking! I’m definitely interested, but right now I’m allocating most of my funds to liquid staking platforms like WaterNeuron. Their flexible staking options and focus on providing liquidity for ICP DeFi projects are very appealing. I’ll keep an eye on NeuronPool though, and might consider it in the future when my ICP holdings grow.

Thank you! I’m not sure I’ve seen any projects hand over control to the NNS, maybe you mean an SNS?

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you like the idea. I understand there is a few options now with the liquid staking etc - everything has it’s pros and cons. NeuronPool is a new staking option that can hopefully bring some value to users, particularly those who want to stake small amounts of ICP for long periods.

@dfxjesse I see that you did not submit https://dashboard.internetcomputer.org/proposal/131671 yourself, can you please share whether you’re supportive of this proposal?

Hi, that’s right it was submitted by @krzysztofzelazko and he informed me in the OpenChat community after it was submitted. I had plans to make it a named-neuron eventually as I think it adds to the transparency around the dApp and since everything in the proposal looks correct, I endorse it.

Is this a part of ntn dao?

it could be a part of ntm dao

It is built with NTN DAO infrastructure tools like DeFi Vectors with Jesse’s modification/custom Neuron Fi code

You can check it here @mico GitHub - Neutrinomic/defivectors

The Pylon canister is secured under NTN DAO for ledger and operations security + transparency

So did you have time to go through the Github @Mico ? I can create a simple Document text file for you to make it easier to learn about Decentralized by Design, and Open Source protocols.

Tell me how ntn is decentralized if Adam controls the vp there.

Decentralized by design means: There is no centralized dapp design. Foundational code/architecture is decentralized.

Open Source means: Anyone can view the code, use the code, modify the code and contribute to the code.

When you speak and accuse someone, you should use the proof/links and then make an argument. So far you have been attacking those that are doing this and derailing the topics/discussion with off topic word pasta. And to make things worse, you are not even following the discourse process that you yourself demanded others to with your pseudo intellectual moralism

I have no idea how Adam “controls” NTN DAO. As far as I know and am aware, NTN was founded by Anvil, who has created tons of codes and repositories on github. All fundamentally decentralized tools / smart contracts. Proposals are public, sale was public, repository is public. So if you are done attacking Neutrinite DAO for your personal reasons, let me know how I can assist you understand the basics.

Here’s some context for you @Mico

  1. Adam is a seed investor of DFINITY, and many SNS projects
  2. NTN DAO builds decentralized tools, and the DAO’s proposals/product repository is public
  3. Anvil has been building tools and products on ICP since 2021
  4. I myself have been building products, creating content and working full time for years on ICP since mainnet

I can assure you that even if “hypothetically NTN DAO was centralized, the tools they built are fundamentally decentralized in nature”, unlike some other DAOs over here

Adam has a 24% vp in ntn which can cripple the dao.

I posted this in other threads, you must have missed it as you joined yesterday.

So basically this is a “lottery system.” Each individuals stake is essentially X # of lottery tickets. And one lucky winner is selected every 14 days that wins all the rewards? Do I understand this correctly?

Well I was answering things from this thread. If you want to have a discourse about decentralization in this thread then you should stay relevant to this thread and post proof in this thread.

I do not see how it is “crippling” So far I’ve seen Adam repurpose abandaoned and drained DAOs into something useful. Maybe I will agree with your opinions when you have better ones.

Not really, it is a full suite of automated neuron management. https://vectors.neuronpool.com/

This post is from last year, the developer has already released the latest version which allows you to manage your neuron’s staking, maturity distribution.

It is definitely not a lottery. It is infrastructure for your assets and automating DeFi without centralization.

NeuronPool can be used by both users and DAOs securely. That is the hallmark of open, permissionless and decentralized protocol.

thank you for clarifying ill have to browse the github later.

Yes. Maybe GitHub links I’ve provided here are boring, but they address all the opinions and queries in this post.

Did you miss the nfid saga too?

If anyone else have questions about Vectors, NTN DAO, feel free to ping me here. Many things have been explained in the replies above.

Again, Vectors are open source and decentralized by design.

Anyone is free to use, integrate or adapt. This is a new concept in web3 so it can be confusing. This was possible to build on ICP due to canister smart contracts and IC’s capabilities.

Are you a part of the ntn team?

hello @mico, if you look above, i’ve answered your off topic questions. Here’s the GitHub repository - Neutrinomic repositories · GitHub
