I’m experiencing a persistent and concerning issue with the cycle management of my Cosmicrafts Genesis NFT canister: nftGeek - Analytics tool for IC NFTs.
I’ve encountered two main problems:
1- Failure to Receive Cycles: Despite attempting to add cycles from multiple sources (NFT Geek and the NNS), the canister does not seem to be receiving them. The ICP appears to be sent to an account ID, potentially burned, but the canister balance remains unchanged.
2- Rapid Cycle Depletion: The last time I successfully added cycles to the canister, they were drained incredibly quickly – roughly 400 billion cycles per day on average. This lasted for only a few days before the canister stopped accepting new cycles altogether.
I’m at a loss to understand what’s happening. I’ve seen other threads discussing indexing issues and problems with NFT projects on the forum, but I’m unsure if my situation is related.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with adding cycles to their NFT canisters, particularly those using the EXT standard? Is this cycle draining rate normal?
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Well, the EXT standard is garbage, it was literally coded by the guy who stole $500k of NFTs from the ecosystem.
Also, you’ve got DOLR AI canisters on subnets that are spiking the state to run other canisters out of cycles.
I suggest you just wait till we’re done draining this swamp and you can migrate your NFTs to this new standard I’m working on. Sorry to be blunt, but that is the situation.
Hey Adam, just for the record… I appreciate what you’ve built here, if not were for you guys this wouldn’t have been possible and just want to let you know I share your long term vision.
EXT is a complete failure now, was never meant to be decentralized, I remember for the first year the Github repo code was incomplete and we didn’t have any other choice at the time. Entrepot didn’t even allowed us to list the collection, had to be done through CrowdfundNFT.
It’s all making sense now with what you’ve uncovered, if there’s anything I can do to help, I’m here for it.
I have a mix of EXT, Anvil and ICRC7 NFTs right now, ICRC7 seems interoperable but I don’t know any other project using it, so what’s the case? looking forward a unified standard we can all work with, it’s the only solution, line them up I’m in
Shoot me the github repo when ready, I’ll have it tested asap
btw, “someone” officially uninstalled my EXT canister which I never had control over it, I’m still investigating but it will not get any better after this, no metadata, no snapshots, and a list of supporters that will not be happy after hearing this
