Introducing Toolkit: Simplifying (SNS) DAO Management

Hey Internet Computer enthusiasts,

We’re excited to introduce Toolkit, a platform designed to simplify the creation and management of DAOs on the Internet Computer. Toolkit offers an intuitive, all-in-one solution for decentralized infrastructure management. From submitting proposals to upgrading canisters and overseeing governance, Toolkit provides the tools to efficiently operate and scale complex DAO systems.

Who is Toolkit For?

Toolkit is designed for overseeing DAOs, tokenized systems, and governance. Its no-code interface empowers both technical and non-technical users to engage in decentralized governance without deep coding expertise.

Core Features

Toolkit’s Beta version delivers essential features for managing SNS DAOs:

  • Track and Monitor Projects: View and track active SNS projects and governance activities.
  • Proposal Management: Create, submit, and track SNS proposals
  • Neuron Management: Set hotkey neurons or create neurons for governance participation.
  • Upgrade SNSes: Easily upgrade outdated SNSes and manage canister data.
  • Dashboard Overview: Access a complete view of tracked SNS projects with key metadata like upgradeability and open proposals.
  • Wallet Integration: Manage multiple tokens and neurons, create neurons directly from the wallet, and handle transactions seamlessly.
  • Enhanced Proposal UI: Improved validation, UX, and support for drafts and templates for recurring proposals.
  • Canister management like, modifying controllers, topping up cycles, add or removing canister to / from selected core.

Upcoming Features

In the near future, Toolkit will introduce:

  • Custom cores: Manage multi-canister projects with optional governance controls, and the possible option to turn the project into an SNS (tbd).
  • Support for Semi- and Fully Decentralized DAOs: Toolkit will extend governance features to a broader range of decentralized DAOs, offering customizable structures tailored to project needs.
  • Governance Flexibility: Principals can be set as signers for approval workflows, enabling more governance control over canisters and project decisions.

These features will be rolled out in phases, expanding Toolkit’s capabilities beyond SNS management.

Get Involved

If you’re managing DAOs on the Internet Computer or exploring decentralized governance, Toolkit offers a powerful, easy-to-use platform to streamline your operations. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to refine and expand the tool.

Try Toolkit now at https://ic-toolkit.app and follow us on X at https://x.com/ic_toolkit.

Note:
Within the toolkit we use the term “core” which essentially is a project like an SNS, this terminology will make sense as we continue to develop features.

Additional Notes: Beta Version
Toolkit is currently in its Beta phase and subject to continuous improvement. While this document outlines current and upcoming features, ongoing updates will optimize user experience, stability, and new capabilities. As mentioned on the dApp, data wipes may occur in the Beta phase, affecting stored cores, drafts, and templates, but token-related data remains unaffected.

Stay tuned as we have a lot more planned to extend the usecase of the toolkit

Thank you for announcing this @rem.codes, this project looks absolutely awesome! I’ve had a play with some of the tools and done some reading up around it. I think what you’re providing will be very powerful moving forward, and will allow DAOs to better leverage their community and resources.

For one thing, the toolkit you’re building should be super useful for managing treasuries with diverse tokens and neurons. Forward looking DAOs are increasingly transitioning their treasuries over to nICP (to project against inflation, while still retaining flexibility to trade out of their nICP position at any time, or unstake). Their treasuries will also receive WTN airdrops for being early adopters. Similarly other DAOs took the opportunity to invest heavily in @WaterNeuron during the SNS swap (@GOLDDAO :eyes:). Tools to make managing these diverse DAO resources easier will be great. I think that’s just touching the surface.

I can already see lots of use cases (making it easy to manage SNS neurons via SNS proposals, or trigger NNS actions via SNS proposals, etc.). I’m sure there are many more use cases that I can’t imagine yet. I’ll be following this project with much interest!

I’m squeezing into this old topic as I hoped to connect directly to the team and this was the most relevant hit in the search.

My NNS wallet only comes automatically with GOLDDAO. Can I sens the gldt to the GOLDDAO canister in my nns wallet?

The reason I ask:

I have some GLDT tokens and wish to put them in my nns list/wallet as to not leave them on icpswap is. Save up there for the minting.

I followed all the ICP support resources, that listed ICPswap as a place to get canister info.

However, when hunting for the GLDT canister info on ICPSwap tw2vt-hqaaa-aaaaq-aab6a-cai is listed for GLDT. If you click on it, it shows the GOLD DAO canister for the GLDT token.

This is a confusing piece for participants of your great project.

If they go to the same spot, how are they differentiated. If you need a gldt specific canister, why not add it to the long list that is automatically on the NNS list internet computer where we can store tokens and stake.

Myself I would add a canister in the NNS, but there is always a concern of error and for wide adoption, having the canisters appear on the main list will allow users to use and store the token more easily.

twitter account should be https://x.com/ic_toolkit not https://x.com/toolkit_ic

love the dapp, great work!

Hey, a member of the toolkit team here :waving_hand:t2: , I’m not sure if your question / suggestion is toolkit or @ICPSwap related

Could you be a bit more specific of what you are trying to do?

Hey thanks! Will update the initial post, we changed it but didn’t update the post

Thank you for the tag @rem.codes . I think I can respond to this sir’s question.

Dear sir,@Helpmeplease
The reason why NNS doesn’t have the GLDT token is that it’s neither an SNS token nor a ck token. GLDT is issued by the Gold DAO SNS team and is a fractionalized token backed by physical gold. That’s why you need to import it.

How to import GLDT to your NNS frontend and store it:
Open ICPSwap

Click the “Add to NNS” button.

Log in to your NNS frontend and add GLDT to your token list.

After that, go to your Wallet → Send, and transfer your GLDT tokens to your NNS account to store them.

Does this address your question?
