We have an important update regarding our communication channels that we’d like to share with you.
Why We’re Making This Change
In light of recent security breaches affecting community-owned Discord channels—specifically the incidents with Polygon, Avalanche and zkSync where hackers published phishing messages posing as official communications—we’ve reevaluated our approach to ensure your safety and the integrity of our information.
What’s Changing
To provide a more secure environment, we are moving all official communications to a new Discord server that is fully controlled and managed by DFINITY Foundation. This step will help us prevent unauthorized access and protect our community from potential threats.
Key Details to Note
- Moderation: The moderation team of ICP Developer Community Discord has kindly agreed to help with moderation of the new server.
- Timeline: This change has been well prepared over the last couple of weeks and will come into force immediately.
- Team Availability: Our experts and moderator team will be active and ready to assist you in the new server, just as they have been before.
- Dev Office hours: The Dev Office hours will continue to be hosted every Wednesday on the new server.
- Working Groups: Some working groups (DeAI, DeFi, Identity & Wallet Standards) already agreed to move their Discord communication to the new server and update existing Discord references on GitHub and on the Forum. We hope that the remaining working groups will make the move as well.
- Kapa.ai: The kapa.ai bot will be deactivated on the current server and continue to operate on the new server, assisting you in all kinds of questions.
- Cycles Faucet Bot: The Cycles Faucet Bot has already been removed from the current server and will no longer be available on the new server. While the Faucet is still available, coupons are only distributed at DFINITY events like hackathons, workshops, or to selected groups like grantees.
Next Steps for You
The new Discord server is now available at https://discord.internetcomputer.org. We encourage all members to join us there to continue receiving official updates, support, and to engage with the community.
