ICPixel – Project Update After X Suspension

Continuing the discussion from Bootstrapping a token for ICPixel (using the in-app pixel system):

Just a heads up, my X (@icpixeleditor) got suspended recently.

I’m still building and will continue sharing updates here and on my own X account (@robinet8ic).If you’ve been following the project, nothing changes, just shifting where I post for now.

Thank you!

Why did they suspend your account? Did they give a reason?

This is what they sent me, suspended for “inauthentic behaviour”.
Not sure why someone would report a 10-20 likes/post, all ICP folks and a couple pixel enthusiasts.
I’ll make a new account soon and continue there.

What the heck? That’s messed up.

Had the same reaction.

I don’t have any evidence to who might have sinked so low, but I have suspicions for other people, I am already noticing a pattern, some other accounts, IC people, that have been reported and suspended.
Whoever it was, I love you!

Doesn’t really make sense, it’s a small and fun project, as you can see it barely scratched the 300 $ICP mark so far.
It’s been growing organically regardless, which is great to see, and I’ll do my best to grow it even further.
I keep building nonetheless, just focused on the community.
Once $pixels are released things get easier with a fresh account.

Imo it doesn’t matter WHO it was or what their motives were but the real issue is that services like X, Facebook, Instagram, and all big tech social media type services, would rather suspend you in a lazy fashion rather than look into the truth of the matter and unfortunately, people have gamed these social media sites in order to play dirty on a regular basis.

Are you a paying X customer?

Lazy is correct, especially since none of these big companies spend any dime on human support.

It was not a paying account. But I don’t think it counts that much, I know someone suspended and he had a subscription.

They may treat paying customers slightly differently but you’re right, it probably doesn’t matter that much.

It’s interesting because this thread is the entire reason for tech like ICP to even exist. This was the whole idea. “UNSTOPPABLE”, “UNCENSORED”, “DECENTRALIZED” internet for all, run by the people, for the people, the whole purpose of the DAO etc. I.e. The ultimate goal of creating this new system to begin with.

However, we have done a horrible job of convincing the public to come here (otherwise everyone would be using Taggr or Trax already for example) until they realize that the very few now control their online lives entirely and I can name a ton of sites that now regularly suspend, cancel, and demonetize people without any due process or recourse whatsoever and they get away with it not realizing the financial and other impacts they wield.

Even in crypto, COINBASE has treated me and many others like criminals just because a single ACH was rejected by a bank like JP Morgan Chase and not because the funds were not there. Despite giving them concrete proof, they suspended my account of more than 10 years indefinitely forcing me to have to eventually close it and despite appeals to the CFPB (government doesn’t care either and lets them get away with it). You are guilty. No judge. No jury. No recourse. All you can do is sue and they know most people don’t have the means to do so or it wouldn’t be worth it. They have such worldwide monopolies these days, they don’t care how many people they abuse.

This is part of the biggest reason to build on ICP vs. web2 and on big tech cloud systems without a doubt but we haven’t marketed this properly. Individuals might not care but governments do. Unless you want the US gov’t to have complete access to your data and be able to shut you down at their will, you simply cannot put it on any big tech web2 infrastructure.

This is the biggest selling point right now for ICP even if individuals don’t realize how important it is to have an internet available to them that is truly decentralized and free of any government control. Same with banking and Bitcoin obviously. If people only knew how much control the banks and the government have over their lives, they would never deposit a penny into any bank either.

Anyways, it’s maddening that these companies are getting away with this and that there isn’t an “internet bill of rights” for the entire world.

Every system people have designed has been corrupted by men who want to control everything and everyone. We should have known from the beginning of the internet this would happen.

Couldn’t have said it better, we’re sitting ducks. ICP can truly solve all of this.

Was it new account or old (renamed). Usually if old had flags, than it dont need much to get suspension. Strange is part note if trying to evade suspension, they suspend new account too. Did you had any other account that had suspension?

Other option, someone is building similar thing and used bot farm to mass flag. If similar app pops up, we know who did it.

It was made half a year ago, so not that old. I do have my own account and 1 more for my Microbo NFT/game. Both are fine. But there was no abuse.

I really think it was ill intention and I have my suspicion on who it was. One of them is pretty vocal about reporting some ICP stuff, I’d rather not name him, I don’t want to spend my time with any beef.

X account back online after 7-8 appeals :folded_hands:
