ICP Blob Storage update

Hi.

What is the update/ plan with the ICP blob storage service? Dfinity, please give some updates on your own set plans. At some point, it seemed it is very close to be finished. Are there product managers/ owners who could explain the situation?

I’ve seen a community ic-blob-storage that calls Caffeine but that is sub-optimal. I would like to build a sovereign cloud experience but for that, I need a solution where user can own their data canister. I couldn’t also find the Caffeine object storage repo anymore but it wouldn’t be my ideal solution anyway.

ICP Blob Storage is mostly needed for open software, to eliminate the intermediary risk. For many other purposes, cloud engine solves the cost problem. But Cloud Engine doesn’t provide a user-sovereign experience because an intermediary controls the cloud engine itself.

The advantage of ICP is trust, open cloud protocol. But this would need to include the data. For governments and enterprise, yes, they want control, so for them we need cloud engine. But for open software, there is no need for it. So we need native blob storage.
