Hey Guys,
we have been working for on using ICP canisters as decentralized message relays for Diode Collab (See here for more tech https://forum.dfinity.org/t/diode-message-storage-coming-to-difinity) and I’m excited to announce that we’re starting the rollout of this feature now to the first zones in production!
What Does This Mean?
Diode Collab is a decentralized messenger and collaboration tool. That means that traditionally messages are exchanged between users using a BitTorrent style synchronization mechanism. The big downside was that it would only sync messages when at least two peers were online at-the-same-time
But not with the ICP “zone availability canisters” encrypted messages are uploaded to canisters when no-one else is online and downloaded by the other peers from the canisters again. Enabling a fully decentralized “always-on” experience. We’re super excited about how this improves the user experience for new signups and especially small groups.
How can I try it out?
Glad that you’re asking! We’re right now beta testing this feature with selected teams and are happy to include you as well for feedback. Just follow these steps:
- Download Diode Collab from Download Hub | Diode™
- Create your first zone
- Contact us here or in the Diode Community zone and we’re going to add you to the beta test.
How to learn more?
