Hi everyone,
We wanted to share a quick update on what the Aikin team has been working on across the Internet Computer ecosystem. Here’s a look at where things stand right now:
NUANCE
We are currently executing on a DAO approved proposal to rebuild the entire front-end. The goal is to modernize the stack, improve scalability, and create a more intuitive user experience for writers and readers.
Here is what’s in progress:
-
Establishing a fresh front-end foundation to support future features and performance goals.
-
Reworking the Home screen around a content-first experience.
-
Redesigning the login & registration flow to reduce friction for new and returning users.
-
Ongoing UI refinement across other screens (layout, spacing, interaction polish).
MIMENTO
Mimento is an on-chain, AI-powered bluff-to-survive game we are building from the ground up on ICP. The game blends agent-based interaction with deterministic on-chain outcomes.
Core loop:
-
4 AI agents enter → they chat/bluff/bet → lowest bet is eliminated → last agent standing wins $MIMENTO. Followers also share in rewards.
-
Player agency: create an agent, own it as an NFT, prompt to train its style (deceive/charm), and follow its rise or early fall.
We don’t want to spoil too much yet, but we can say this: the big launch is getting closer. Behind the scenes, we’ve been balancing the game’s rules with the limits of LLMs. It’s been fascinating!
DISTRIKT
Distrikt is one of the OG social dApps on IC. Aikin serves as the core Internet Computer development team. (DedalDev is developing the mobile app.)
-
Zones everywhere: Stronger discovery & engagement → We reworked how Zone posts flow through the app. Zone posts now appear in both the main Stream and your Home feed. To make this possible, we rebuilt the feed pipeline as a single-endpoint aggregator, reducing client round-trips and keeping mobile performance fast. The result: communities gain more visibility, and users see richer, more relevant content without extra steps.
-
Zone Carousels & Categories: Find the right communities fast → We introduced dynamic Zone Carousels in both Home and Stream, showcasing active Zones as you scroll. Zone admins can now also assign their spaces to curated categories, making discovery cleaner and more consistent. This helps new users onboard into the right communities quickly, gives smaller Zones a chance to get noticed, and prevents larger Zones from overwhelming the feed.
-
Performance revamp: Faster posts, steadier trending, scalable media → Post fetching logic previously triggered inter-canister calls proportional to total post count, which slowed older content. We refactored the logic so legacy posts now load quickly without ballooning call counts. Trending hashtags were improved by parallelizing per-hashtag queries, stabilizing and speeding up the experience. For media, we deployed stable-memory canisters and migrated existing assets, ensuring scalability for future growth. Together, these changes make feeds snappier, trends reliable, and media handling far more robust.
-
Universal Translation (DeepL): Inclusive, global conversations → We added instant translation for posts and comments, including older ones, powered by DeepL. One tap on the translation icon converts content into your chosen language. We chose a proven off-chain solution to deliver reliability today, while evaluating on-chain options for the future. This makes Distrikt more accessible to a global community and opens a feedback loop on language inclusivity.
-
Querio integration: Search the decentralized web from Distrikt → We integrated Querio, a decentralized search engine built on ICP, directly into Distrikt. Users can now search Web3 content without leaving the platform, spotlighting fellow ICP dApps. This creates a seamless, in-context way to discover more of the ecosystem.
-
Multi-token wallet support: Interop with partner dApps → Distrikt wallets now support tokens from ecosystem partners: NUA (Nuance), DCD (DecideAI), and QRO (Querio). This makes it possible to tip, show support, and transact across communities natively, reinforcing the interconnected fabric of ICP.
-
Moderation dashboard fixed: Empowered Zone admins → We restored full functionality to the moderation dashboard, which had been impaired by legacy issues. Zone owners and admins can now review, manage, and moderate posts smoothly again, ensuring healthier and better-governed communities.
-
Proof of Humanity (DecideID): Better trust signals → We integrated DecideID to enable Proof of Humanity. This adds stronger trust signals, reduces bot-driven noise, and supports trust-gated actions in sensitive spaces, helping keep the platform clean and credible.
-
Mobile experience focus: Smooth on low bandwidth → By building the feed as a single endpoint and simplifying client logic, we reduced network overhead. This means faster load times, smoother scrolling, and consistent performance across devices — especially important for mobile users on limited connections.
-
Quality & reliability improvements: Lots of small wins → Alongside the big updates, we addressed numerous legacy-structure issues like edge cases in hashtags and trending logic. We also improved observability and maintainability in the new fetch patterns and memory layout, making future iterations easier and more reliable.
That’s the current snapshot. We’ll keep posting updates as Nuance, Mimento, and Distrikt evolve.
