I created an app and updated it 5 times, I did a live version update, but the live version of the app still didn’t update.
What is this? Is it a credit-spending trap?
How did you establish this? Note that DFINITY’s dashboard isn’t the source of truth. It caches things so you should get your source of truth directly from the management canister

Wipe your slate clean. The past is clinging to your memory.
Its probably just a caching issue. Caching occurs at different points, including your web browser. Clear your cache and be patient.
I believe he is referring to Caffeine, given the previous deleted Marketplace post.

I updated the app on Caffeine, gave the command to update the live version, and Caffeine replied that it had updated the live version.

I guess sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes… the bear eats you.
Try waiting 30 minutes after you go live next time. You might be surprised. Sometimes you just need to wait.
If you don’t know the technical reasons, I don’t need idioms.
I told you its a caching issue. You just need to wait. Take it or leave it.
Ultimately, this is a problem for all of us. An ambitious cloud must function properly.
why fume, please be patient…the app runs on a chain
If you need instant changes and thats what is important to you then perhaps a modern CDN like cloudflare makes sense.
If you want your app to run on chain you’ll just have to live with however long it takes for your canister to upgrade and for the boundary node cache query. In my experience you’re waiting half an hour for caffeine apps once they get more complex.

Feel free to ask caffeine questions here. But the dfinity staff wont answer them. Its a private company, not part of the foundation.
Feel free to ask for help from support in their discord, or put in a ticket - good luck with that.
But you should be aware that just about nobody here spent significant time using caffeine. The verdict came in fairly quickly that claude + cursor + appropriate skills and deploying app that you actually control was just better… for a lot of reasons.
Then why doesn’t caffeine point this out? This is not obvious to the casual vibecoder, a main target of users…
It’s difficult to know why.
Maybe we just assume people know everything.
Maybe we think that struggling and learning the ins and outs is a right of passage, and the customer just needs to “git gud.”
Maybe the target end user is not actually people, but their agents.
Nobody actually knows why.
