If a website is hosted that violates for example copyrights, what are the options from difinity to take that website down? Is there a mechanism implemented by ICP to take such websites down?
I am wondering if it should be fully decentralized there should be no way to take a website down, even if it’s a dark-web marketplace.
Taking a guess here but I would guess someone can raise a proposal to remove the canister? However this leads to more questions like

What is stopping the person who installed the canister code from simply creating a new canister and uploading the same code. its a relatively quick process but i guess it would cost money.

What if the community votes “No” on a proposal to take down a harmful website.
You can find more information on this topic by taking a look at this post. In short DFINITY operates Boundary Nodes using the icp0.io and ic0.app domains and maintains a content filter for these domains pursuant to the terms of the Code of Coduct. However, this filter only applies to the HTTP endpoints, allowing other gateway providers and IC-native clients “unfiltered” access to the IC. Any community member can set up and run a gateway using their own domain and define their own policy.
So what you are saying is that if the website runs over https there is no filter applied? What would be the steps a government could take to take down such a site? 26 Boundary nodes seem not a lot to me, could they not just get the majority in the boundary nodes and overrule every website?
