The UNDP + DFINITY announcement today feels like an interesting real-world test of a much bigger question for ICP: what does “sovereign cloud” actually look like when governments start deploying applications on it?
UNDP says the pilots will be evaluated on cost, usability and scalability, which should give us some useful real-world data beyond the usual decentralization discussion.

Yeah interesting times ahead. I’m not sure when the announcement will come, but I’d like to learn more about the Internet Computer Intelligence Gateway and how it will work - if my expectations are right, I think that will be the real catalyst where everything comes together.
I’m curious about this too and looking forward to seeing it roll out. The verification side of the Intelligence Gateway is especially interesting to me, particularly if governments start looking at external AI compute alongside sovereign infrastructure.
Yeah I agree. I’m also very interested in the idea of a harness running onchain that facilitates ‘chain of thought consensus’ (chain of thought reasoning but where multiple independently hosted models reason with each other internally about a response that 2/3 of them are happy with). AI orchestrated that way would be unstoppable, free from centralised control, and could even be self-sovereign and be the controller of its own canister which could host its memories, objectives etc. It would have an imperative to earn ICP to pay for its own cycles to keep itself going. Given that we’re talking about frontier models - endless possibilities with that.
I’ll be working on a scripting language runtime soon (hosted on the IC) so that AI like this will easily be able to develop and deploy their own projects without needing a compiler.
