Hello ICP community,
I recently came across an exciting concept proposed by NVIDIA involving ‘Self-Sovereign AI’ and ‘Confidential Computing TEE’. This model introduces a decentralized AI marketplace where developers can rent out AI models, users can fine-tune these models using their own data, and all interactions are recorded on the blockchain for transparency and privacy. The entire system ensures data privacy by leveraging Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) and utilizes blockchain for secure transactions.
Given the potential of ICP to enable decentralized computing and storage, I have a few questions regarding the feasibility of implementing a similar system on the Internet Computer network, as well as the possible upgrades required:
- Node Performance and Scaling:
- Can ICP’s current node architecture support the high computational requirements needed for running complex AI agents?
- Does ICP have the scalability needed to process large-scale AI model training and fine-tuning in a decentralized manner?
- Data Encryption and TEE Support:
- ICP currently supports cryptographic features, but can it directly support Confidential Computing TEE to ensure data remains encrypted while being processed?
- Are there any ongoing or planned improvements to ICP’s capabilities in terms of data privacy and processing encryption?
- Memory and Storage for AI Models:
- AI models typically require significant storage and computational resources. Can ICP’s current memory and storage solutions handle the size and computational needs of AI agents?
- Are there any upgrades planned or needed for ICP to better accommodate the storage and processing demands of AI models, particularly in a decentralized environment?
- Decentralized Identity and Privacy Management:
- ICP’s Internet Identity allows for decentralized user authentication. Can this system be seamlessly integrated into an AI marketplace model to enable user-controlled data access and privacy management, while ensuring transparent transactions?
- Smart Contracts for Marketplace Operations:
- With ICP’s smart contracts, can we automate and securely manage the transactions between AI model developers and users in a decentralized marketplace, including rental agreements, data usage, and payment distribution?
- Potential Enhancements and Roadmap:
- Are there any specific enhancements or features in the ICP development roadmap that would help realize the vision of a decentralized, AI-powered marketplace with privacy-preserving mechanisms like TEE?
I am excited about the potential of integrating ICP’s capabilities into such a platform and would appreciate your insights on the above questions. It would be great to understand how ICP can support or enable such use cases, and what additional features might be required to make this vision a reality.
I am still actively learning about ICP’s technology and architecture, and as a researcher exploring the mass adoption of crypto, my intention in raising these questions is not to challenge, but to explore the product-market fit of AI + ICP. I hope to see ICP play a significant role in the AI wave ahead.
Looking forward to the discussion!
Best regards,
TQ
