Missing rewards Demonstration

Hello, sorry if I’m making a mistake… but here’s my issue. I’ve been staking 500 ICP for 2 years and 240 days. I recently added 300 ICP.

At the beginning, I was earning about 0.24 ICP per day with the 500 ICP staked. So, roughly 1 ICP in rewards every 4 days (although that has decreased a bit over time). All my rewards have always been sent to a wallet labeled “interests”, so I can track the history for almost 3 years.

Apparently, my last deposits to the “interests” account date back to April 15. That means I must have disbursed those rewards 7 days earlier (on April 8).

Today is April 21… and my 500 staked ICP have generated only 0.72 ICP (over 14 days?). The account with 300 ICP staked has generated 0.3 ICP over 14 days. (There’s also 10 ICP staked independently via Ledger Nano.)

The “active neuron” field is correctly enabled for 176 days. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve checked my account several times thinking, “hmm, that’s strange”… and now after double-checking everything, it seems like some staking rewards are missing.

I think you have a badly set up neuron, it misses almost all the votes, that’s the reason

I’ve left it like this for the past three years and I’ve never missed a single day of staking rewards. And all of a sudden, it feels like several days’ (a lot ofworth of rewards are missing in a row.)

I changed nothing for 3 years so how can it be badly set up ?

There are clearly issues with the following process. You are not the only one to bring up these concerns, Ive seen many posts raising this issue lately.

My best advice would be to make sure you vote manually until more clear response from dfinity adresses these concerns.

I vote manually and i have never missed rewards.

Did you take into account that your age bonus went down when adding 300icp to the neuron?

I know, but I didn’t merge the 500 icp with the 300. They are independant neuron and rewards.

Thank you ! :folded_hands:
Thank you very much. And the
hasn’t DFINITY TEAM given any official response on this issue? I have the feeling they’ve implemented measures to reduce staking rewards, especially the requirement to reactivate our presence every 180 days. Are we going to be compensated for the missing rewards?

Cant speak to that, just i know you will get your rewards if you vote manually 100%.

It can be tedious, I know. And it can be difficult to understand if you arnt technical, you can always check the forums to see what trusted contributors are voting if you arnt sure.

Vote manually, not hard to log in each day. Neuron following should be disabled and need to look idea if neuron has not voted for long time, than forced unstake those with penalty (burn some % of tokens).

This is amazing future tech, thank you !

It’s a joke. I don’t want to log in everyday. Nobody want. This is not future.

This is why liquid staking is a great option.

Hi there, please see here for a recap of what to consider when following.
Looking on your last screenshot, I think that the problem could be what I described in point 2 of the above article: you are following neuron 28 that does not vote anymore.
In short: For all topics where you follow the DFINITY foundation and 28, when the foundation adopts a proposal your neuron will not cast a vote as it requires more than half of the followees to agree to adopt the proposal for your neuron to also adopt it.
You can find more details in the post linked above!

So why you even staked tokens if you dont care about voting. If someone want to cut rewards in half, and your following neuron that agrees with it, you literally shoot yourself in the foot. Later you come to forum, asking why so low rewards, oh wait you voted for it.
At the end of the day, no one cares about tech, voting, blockchain adoption. As long as investment pays off, not care, right?

So can anyone give me a good group to follow to be sure I get all votes ?

@passio

Dfinity is fairly reliable for votes that are not governance related.

Any of the groups you see posting in the node provider proposal threads are reliable to vote.

I would strongly advise you to find some time every 3 days to log in and atleast vote on government proposals yourself (these are the ones that say “Motion”) as these proposals have long lasting effects and as an investor you should care whats going on.

For example there are people in the community who believe that people such as yourself should be punished and pay a fee to those they are following. This was a consideration that was brought up a few months back. Youll want to catch these types of things if they resurface again so you can make your voice heard.

Sorry but democracy can’t be each 3 days. I understand the philosophy, but the tech need basics. We should connect once a month for important proposal. All 3 days is too much… Sometime I’m completely in other stuffs.

Or, they should create an easier app with push notification. Thank you very much for the help.

I would like to know who I am following. I think dfinity do not vote for governance stuff (I hear that before).

@passio
you can find a list of all known neurons, and their voting history, how reliable they are etc at
vpgeek.app.

top menu → neurons → known neurons
