Introducing IC Nomads: A Proof-of-Work Tribe Building & Shaping the Internet Computer Ecosystem

Gm forum members :waving_hand: …. I’m Samuel pka Oasis

I’m excited to formally introduce you to a tribe and community of contributors known as the Internet Computer Nomads or simply, IC Nomads.

IC Nomads are founders, developers, designers, writers, content creators, and community builders actively helping to shape the Internet Computer ecosystem.

What Does the IC Nomads Tribe Do?

As a contributor-first tribe, we power ecosystem growth on the Internet Computer through proof of work.

We support ICP projects by helping them build, launch, grow, and scale while contributors earn through:

  • Bounties
  • Gigs
  • Exclusive Airdrops
  • Community grants

We believe real contributors deserve real opportunities. Everything is earned through proof of work.

Need Help With Your Project?

If you’re building on ICP and looking for:

  • Developers to build your dApp or add new features
  • Writers or content creators to tell your story
  • Designers to polish your UI/UX or branding.
    • Community builders to grow your reach

You can post a bounty or gig in our tribe’s :money_bag:│earn-icp channel. Our community of contributors is active, vetted, and focused on delivery.

What’s Coming Next?

We’re currently building a dApp and distribution platform for IC Nomads - a platform that will:

  • List open bounties and gigs
  • Showcase contributors’ proof of work
  • Make it easier to match projects with top talent
  • Track contributions and unlock role-based rewards

We believe the future of contribution on ICP should be transparent, on-chain, and merit-based.

Introducing the caniSTAR Role

Sponsors who list bounties, gigs, or airdrops for IC Nomads earn the caniSTAR role — our tribe’s badge of honor for ecosystem builders like you.

caniSTARs are the core drivers of the IC Nomads tribe. They are founders, sponsors, or ecosystem leaders who consistently create and fund opportunities for others.

caniSTAR Role Benefits:

  • Full access to IC Nomads’ talent pool and distribution channels
  • Project listings on our upcoming web app
  • Present your project during IC Nomads’ community calls/spaces
Featured slots at our IRL (in-real-life) events

How to Get Started

  1. Join the IC Nomads Discord → IC Nomads

  2. Request the caniSTAR role — the Council of Nomads will vet and assign it

  3. Post your task, gig, or bounty (with requirements, budget, and timeline) in the :money_bag:│earn-icp channel

Together, we are building and shaping the ecosystem — one contribution at a time.
Send a DM or reach out via @ICNomads on X (Twitter).

I’m happy to answer your questions and help you get started as a caniSTAR inside the Nomads Tribe Discord.

A real NOMAD would use Open Chat not discord so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel with a distribution dapp and just use the tipping feature on OC. Also who is funding you, where is the money coming from ?

Steps to Activate:

  1. Post your intro post on X (Twitter)
  2. Tag @ICNomads on X
  3. Submit your post link in <#1377820861653848144> channel to complete activation.

Once reviewed, you’ll get the ic-contributor role.

Why Activate?
The ic-contributor role grant you access to the guild section of the server where you can access:

  • Learning & earning opportunities
  • Earn-icp channel where bounties and paid gigs are posted.
  • a chance to build your proof-of-work and grow your rep in ecosystem.

This is not very web3 is it ? Maybe one can get activated by sending you some ICP.

Appreciate your feedback!

We actually started with OpenChat (OpenChat) and we love what it represents for the ecosystem. But in practice, it didn’t give us the coordination features we needed to manage onboarding, roles, guilds, and contributions efficiently. That’s why we moved to Discord — especially after seeing many other IC projects using it for active community-building.

Regarding the Earn section — that’s a temporary system. As clearly mentioned in our post, we’re actively building a dapp to handle bounties and contributor rewards in a decentralized, transparent way. The Discord setup is just a bridge to test and organize contributions while the dapp is in development.

We’re not funded or sponsored — this is a community-driven initiative built by passionate contributors. No one is asked to send ICP to get “activated.” That’s a misunderstanding. Making assumptions like that without actually engaging with the system can send the wrong message. we encourage everyone to explore first, ask questions, and build with us.

We’re open to suggestions and feedback, and we’re always iterating to be more Web3-native wherever it makes sense.

Thanks again for engaging. If you’ve got ideas or want to contribute, our DMs are open.
