Introducing Canister Cloud

Canister Cloud is a secure, scalable, and fully on-chain document storage and management dApp designed for Human Resources (HR) departments. It streamlines HR workflows, particularly for new hire onboarding, by simplifying the collection of signed contracts, work permits, identification documents, and other essential paperwork. Built entirely on the Internet Computer, Canister Cloud ensures sensitive data is securely managed and shared within organizations.

Our solution enhances usability and security beyond existing tools, offering a production-ready application tailored for document requests, secure storage, and HR-specific collaboration features.

Key Features

  • Drag-and-Drop File Upload: Simplifies document management with an easy upload experience.
  • Enhanced Document Requests and Sharing: Allows users to request multiple documents in a single workflow and create streamlined workflow templates.
  • VETKey-Backed Storage Security: Strengthens file storage with VETKey-based encryption.
  • File Management Tools: Enables renaming and deleting files for better document organization.

How is it built

Canister Cloud is developed using Rust for backend canisters and Svelte for the frontend interface. Authentication is managed via Internet Identity, ensuring secure user access without relying on third-party authentication services. The application leverages VETKey technology for encrypting and storing documents, enhancing data security and privacy.

The architecture includes:

  • Rust-based backend canisters for managing document storage and user access.
  • Svelte-based frontend for an intuitive user experience.
  • VETKey implementation to secure documents at rest.
  • Internet Identity authentication.

Go-To-Market strategy

Our initial go-to-market strategy involves piloting Canister Cloud with an HR team within a large enterprise. This pilot will allow us to gather real-world feedback, refine the product, and validate key features. Additionally, we will conduct customer interviews to better understand HR professionals’ needs and further optimize the platform before a broader rollout.

Monetization

Canister Cloud is designed as a commercial solution for HR teams seeking a secure, blockchain-based document management system. Monetization will be achieved through a subscription-based model, offering tiered pricing based on storage needs and feature access. Additional revenue opportunities include premium enterprise support and feature customization for large organizations.

Future Plans

Following the pilot phase, we plan to iterate on Canister Cloud based on user feedback, ensuring it meets enterprise security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR). Key development priorities include:

  • ERP Integrations: Integrate with WorkDay and SAP Success Factors
  • Advanced Features: Adding digital signatures, document annotation, activity tracking, and AI-assisted search.
  • Enterprise Partnerships: Engaging with HR tech consultancies to expand adoption.

Over the next 12 months, we aim to refine the product, grow our user base, and explore funding opportunities to support ongoing development and market expansion.

Thanks Ajki

Thanks for the question muambo

Our initial customer interviews have highlighted pain points in collecting documents within HR teams. Often documents containing sensitive employee data are collected through email where they can be forwarded on. There are obvious problems (opportunities) with this method, regarding privacy and security especially with the GDPR regs. Canister Cloud will solve this by providing an encrypted, on-chain and user-friendly platform.

Another issue is collecting docs is often disjointed, where documents are requested at different times, using different methods making it hard to track for the requester and the sender. We’re solving this by streamlining the process with multi-request workflow templates.

Ironic using AI to call someone out for using AI! The tool is inaccurate. I used the provided Dfinity template, filled in the sections, and used AI to correct my dyslexic ramblings to make them legible and concise.
