Improve Internet Identity to make it’s users able to disclose their principal from one service to another

This is a fantastic thread!

Our team is working on upgrading the II experience (check out our authentication flow) and I’ve thought a lot about what you’re proposing @senior.joinu

As @GLdev had written, the intention behind this is fantastic but I have an issue with this approach in that I lose my privacy and open the doors to bad actors (imagine a nefarious actor building a variety of services that look useful for users but are really only a means to collect and map principal IDs).

Instead what we’ve been working towards is an “Identity App Store” built into the Identity service. Developers build “dapplets” deployed to the store that Identities are a first class citizen of. It’s obviously more work, but I think it’s necessary and inevitable that your self-sovereign Identity across all of the Internet continues to become more powerful with time.

Hey there! Thanks for a reply!

This is very interesting, but it’s hard for me to get the idea from your brief description, could you elaborate on this “Identity App Store” app a little bit more?

What problem does it solve?
How does it work? Is it some kind of infrastructure that’s gonna enable developers to extend II?
What is the ETA?
