We wanted to check if there are other developing teams working in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Our lab usually supports young technical founders with seed funding and our teams would love to collaborate on projects and Arabic educational content. If you are developer in MENA would love to connect.
Hubs may be your best bet, although there doesn’t seem to be a space on forums for hubs to come together. Maybe something to add, or at least links to the Hub insta/twitter(x),Yral(lol!) etc.
We have really good relations with the ICP hub in Dubai(they were invited to meet the regulators here), but Dubai has a shortage in native Arab speakers who are tech graduates(expat levels are higher than natives ie no Emirati devs per se). We even ran ads on social media. I think the only other Egyptian dev outside of Egypt that we have not sponsored is probably DFINITY’s AI lead(our devs look up to tbh)
There has to be someone who knows someone who is developer from MENA(not even a team at this point). Our ecosystem has the highest dev growth, but no Arabic speaking devs? Northern Africa and the Middle East are pretty big, how come there is no presence there…??? Does not that seem off?
I told you, ICP has no developers in MENA region, I spent 500$ worth of ads to reach this conclusion. The real question is why? Because the Arab world and Northern Africa are rich, full of youth who love tech…Something should be done about it!
I went to your stock market event last year as part of my senior year course, and it really got me interested in ICP. Since then, I’ve been wanting to learn more and get involved in the community.
I just graduated with a Computer Science degree from AUC (American University in Cairo), GPA 3.6, made the Dean’s List. I missed the internship round last month, but I’m still super excited to learn and hopefully get some handson experience.
Hey Mohamed, we are glad you enjoyed our event last year. Paid internships are for graduating seniors. I think you can qualify for a junior dev position. Usually the first 3 months are mentoring through the ICP developer journey(I recommend you start in case you have not).
