ICP Dashboard 6.0 is live!

As you may have seen, the first major release of the redesigned ICP Dashboard went live yesterday!

What’s new or redesigned:

The article Internet Computer Dashboard: Making ICP Data More Accessible does a great job of explaining what’s new, and the direction we’re headed with the dashboard, so I won’t repeat all of that here. Instead, I’ll describe some of the features I’m most excited about.

We wanted to show the decentralization of the Internet Computer visually, so we created the Network page hero section, which shows a rotating globe of data centers containing ICP nodes. You can hover over any marker to see data center details.

What’s really cool though is to click the :play_button: button on the Decentralization card, which causes the card to cycle through each subnet (as well as API boundary nodes and the network as a whole), highlighting the associated data center markers on the globe, allowing you to see where the nodes of each subnet are located.

You can also click through the subnets manually using the forward and back buttons, or open the menu to select from the full, searchable list.

When selecting nodes for subnets, the goal is to maximize decentralization. A Nakamoto coefficient represents the number of unique entities required to take control of a subnet, and the bars on the Decentralization card show how close each category (node providers, data centers, data center owners, regions, and countries) is to the highest possible decentralization for the subnet. Hovering over the bars provides more detailed information.

Over on the new Subnets page, in addition to decentralization info, you’ll find 4 columns that can be used to compare the load of subnets: State, Canisters, Transactions, and Compute Load. In this screenshot, the subnets are sorted by Compute Load.

The dashboard now has a table of ICP ecosystem tokens on the new Tokens page. This page is a work-in-progress. We’ll soon be incorporating price data and adding more tokens (i.e., tokens other than ICP, SNS, and chain-key).

This is just the first of many redesign releases. We have lots of exciting stuff planned, and we’re just getting started.

Feel free to leave feedback for what you’d like to see on the ICP Dashboard!

GM @Dylan - have been enjoying the new dashboard these last few weeks.

Some feedback re: displaying the 46 Known Neurons’ activity;

A recent dive into Known Neuron activity showed 18 of 46 are not currently voting. Would it be possible to make the list dynamic, ie those which are have been voting (e.g. over the last month) are listed above those which are inactive (e.g. haven’t voted for 1+ months)?

I appreciate the activities of Known Neurons are in the hands of the neurons’ owners, and not the responsibility of the Foundation, and also that some Neurons specialise in certain areas of Governance, which explains why their voting behaviour may be erratic… but from the perspective of a Follower looking for Neurons with similar ethos / motivations the current layout isn’t easy to navigate.
