Fighting Scam on ICP From the Inside Out

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to give the community a first glimpse into something we’ve been working on behind the scenes: PurgeDAO — a decentralized initiative to help make the Internet Computer a safer place by fighting scams from within the ecosystem.

What is PurgeDAO?

PurgeDAO is a mission-driven DAO focused on building tools to detect, flag, and reduce scam activity across ICP. We believe that the fight against fraud shouldn’t be centralized — it should be powered by the community, transparently and on-chain.

We’re still deep in the building phase, but progress is being made.
Big shoutout to our lead dev Bort, who’s been laying down the core architecture and pushing the limits of what’s possible on ICP. Without him, none of this would be real.

What We’re Building (in progress):
• On-chain scam reporting & community flagging
• Smart contract risk detection (early prototype stage)
• DAO-powered decision making for blacklist governance
• A lightweight safety scanner for token launches and canisters

We’re not launching just yet — it’ll still take a bit of time.
This kind of infrastructure takes careful planning, testing, and iteration.
We want it to be solid, permissionless, and actually useful from day one.

Big shoutout to @borovan , who’s been actively fighting scams on ICP for weeks now.

we fully respect his work — we share the same mission:

a safer, scam-free ICP ecosystem.

That said, we’re incredibly excited about what’s forming — and we’ll share more when the time is right.

Thanks for reading. If you’re into trustless tools, security, or just hate scammers as much as we do, stay tuned.

Let’s clean the chain.

Hey @badri,

I fully support the fight to keep the ecosystem clean and protect investors, consumers, and retail from fraud.

However, when financial incentives are introduced to the equation, great care must be taken to ensure incentives are aligned with public good and not with a political party or group of insiders.

What steps will you take to ensure that PurgeDAO will be incentivized to align their interest with the public good, and not be used as a gatekeeping mechanism to harm legitimate competition?

Hey @WebTreeSoftwareSolut ,
great question — we’re building PurgeDAO to be fully transparent, community-governed, and based on clear, verifiable criteria.

No single group controls outcomes, and decisions will always be on-chain and open for vote.

It’s about surfacing risk, not gatekeeping — and the tools will be permissionless and forkable if needed.

We want to protect users, not control them.

With that said, I’d be happy to answer more questions.

That sounds great!

I’m looking forward to hear what the “verifiable criteria” will be as you develop your project. This will certainly require deep thought, consideration, and iteration.

You are tackling a challenging problem, I hope you will continue to find ways to protect the little fish in this red ocean.

Thank you so much — that means a lot.:folded_hands:

You’re absolutely right: defining verifiable criteria will take time, input from many perspectives, and constant refinement.

Our goal is to build something that truly serves and protects the “little fish”.

Appreciate your support — and we’ll keep the community involved every step of the way.
