Hi folks, dfx 0.29.0-beta.0 is released. You can find the release notes here.
To switch to the beta release, use dfxvm default 0.29.0-beta.0.
This release features a new version of Motoko - see the Motoko release notes for 0.15.0 and 0.15.1. It also has new commands for canister snapshot uploading and downloading.
This is the first release to feature builds for Arm64 Linux. We’re planning a new version of dfxvm that knows how to install it, but for now, to test this build you’ll have to manually install it from the release page. It’s a good idea to put it first in your PATH when you do this so that npm scripts which say dfx invoke the right one.
I can’t wait for the IC’s version of GitHub. But that’s just another seed in the ground.
Hopefully in a few years developers will become proficient in Motoko to take advantage of the new features. And of course, Caffeine should be on the bleeding edge of Motoko’s capabilities.
Linux is fine, however I’d imagine the mainstream users of dfx using powershell, but they might also be using WSL.
Still though, thanks for the update. Hopefully bugs are found and fixed more and more.
