ckPayment - P2Point of Sale

Developer Showcase: ckPayment

Peer 2 Peer Architecture for the Point-of-Sale (P2PoS)

Most ICP ecosystem wallets (NNS, Oisy, NFID Plug) are engineered for Web3 interaction: managing assets, staking, and interacting with dApps. ckPayment is a radical departure. We’ve designed a “Terminal-First” UI specifically for the in-person transaction flow of a small business or sole proprietor.

Minimalist UI: The “Two-Tap” Merchant UX

Standard wallets require navigating through “Send/Receive” menus, selecting tokens, and manually inputting amounts. In a retail “Counter Rush,” that is a failure point.

  • The Intent-Based Interface: ckPayment’s UI is a Numeric Pad, not a portfolio view.

    • Flow: Create invoice as a merchant. Or press pay to scan and go.

    • Logic: The UI skips the “wallet dashboard” entirely to minimize cognitive load during a sale.

  • Deterministic QR Payloads: We bake the transaction amount directly into the QR code. The customer doesn’t have to type in the price; they simply scan and approve.

High-Velocity Feedback Loop

In a physical shop, “Pending” is a dirty word. If a customer stands there for 30 seconds waiting for a screen to update, the UX is broken.

  • The “Green Check” Finality: Our frontend is optimized to display a success state the millisecond the ledger transaction is indexed. It mimics the haptic/visual feedback of a credit card terminal, giving the solo proprietor the confidence to hand over the goods immediately.

  • No App Store Friction: A merchant can “Install” the app by adding the URL to their home screen.

  • Device Agnostic: The UI scales from an old Android phone to a high-end iPad. It turns any existing screen into a $0-cost payment terminal.

  • Session Persistence: Designed to stay logged in and active throughout a full business day without requiring re-authentication through Internet Identity every 30 minutes.

“We didn’t build a wallet to store your crypto. We built a terminal to help you run your business.”

Currently we are still in alpha testing phase. We invite you to test with us.

Nice! Simple and effective. I like it a lot. My only feedback would be to simplify the logo, maybe making it more abstract. Less is more when it comes to logos.

Verifiability and trust that the app will behave as intended is another thing worth considering.

At this time, the software is provided “as is”; the full disclaimer for its use can be found within the application.

While we have no plans to decentralize or open-source the codebase, the peer-to-peer (P2P) architecture allows those with the necessary technical knowledge to verify and fully replicate the application.

Additionally, we would like to note that there is no platform fee. We believe in casting a wide net to prove the value of the underlying technology.

If it’s not open source, I don’t see how this can be true.

Thank you for your feedback, Lorimer.

We would like to highlight the problems ckPayment aims to solve.

The current payment system is rigged. While the giants of retail enjoy rock-bottom rates and elite protection, small business owners are left to foot the bill for a bloated, “rapacious” middle man.

Our app is the equalizer. We’ve stripped away the layers of bureaucracy to give you back your margins and your peace of mind.

1. Stop Paying the “Small Business Tax”

Small businesses shouldn’t be penalized for not being big-box retailers. We bypass the traditional processors that pad their profits with your hard-earned revenue. No more “junk fees,” no more inflated markups.

2. Your Money Stays Your Money

In the traditional system, a customer can initiate a chargeback weeks after a sale, leaving you without your product and your cash. Our transactions are irreversible. By eliminating the threat of erroneous or fraudulent chargebacks, we ensure that once you’ve made a sale, the money is yours—permanently.

3. Radical Simplicity

We’ve replaced the complex, 10-page merchant statements with a transparent model.

  • No Middle Man: We connect you directly to the payment.

  • No Reversals: What you earn is what you keep.

  • No Nonsense: A level playing field for every entrepreneur.

We have successfully streamlined the infrastructure for the merchant. We’ve provided them with a turnkey, zero-cost payment terminal that functions without any processing fees.

However, the primary friction point has shifted from the seller to the buyer. The core engineering and adoption challenge now lies in the consumer experience: How do we incentivize users to acquire and hold ckTokens? Solving the “onboarding-to-holding” pipeline is the final hurdle in making this ecosystem truly viable.

Currently we believe the strongest “bridge” for onboarding native token holders to become ckToken Holders is oisy.com @yellingfore
