350k ICP Stuck in Migration to New Identity System Using Yubi key

I have 350k ICP (300k locked) on my internet Identity but I am having difficulty migrating it to the new II system using Yubi key. I each time I try I am asked for a pin (not the II number, I have that). I never used the pin in the past so I have no pin recorded. I also have no mnemonic recorded as I used a back up Yubi Key for this purpose.

Does anyone know of a fix for this issue?

I’ve been through these, I have my identity. It is the pin for the Yubi keys that I don’t have. I’ll update the original post

does browser/device’s key management system stores those pins by any chance?

it might be gone.

You do not need a YubiKey pin to upgrade an identity, all you need is the identity number and the YubiKey itself in the first step: https://identitysupport.dfinity.org/hc/en-us/articles/40243624646804-How-do-I-upgrade-from-Legacy-Identity-to-Internet-Identity-2-0

After naming your identity, you’ll need to create a new (more secure) passkey, in this particular step you’ll be required to either set-up a new pin or use an already configured pin. At this point, you can consider taking out your YubiKey and using another YubiKey for this step as extra precaution, keeping the existing YubiKey “unchanged”.

The upgrade flow is non-destructive, it doesn’t remove existing passkey access methods from your identity and can be repeated multiple times with your “legacy” passkey.

Wow hope you manage to recover your ICP, this is why having multiple backups including recovery phrase is a must.

Good luck, @Arthur!

I’ve never used the pin before and I set this up at launch. Yes, you are correct this key is wiped, but I have a backup

Right, but the interface asks for a pin and there is no pin attached to the Yubi key. that is my problem. I have about 30 friends who I sold ICP to who are in an identical situation

The guidence from the DFINITY Foundation was not to use recovery passphrase due to insecurity. That is why it was added as an access feature much later

The interface should prompt you for the YubiKey without pin after entering your identity number and pressing continue.

Once you see the screen to enter a name for your identity, you’ve succesfully authenticated already, which means you’re halfway there.

The only remaining step is entering a name for your identity and creating a passkey by clicking upgrade identity. This will prompt you for a new or existing pin in case you’re using a YubiKey due to stricter security requirements on id.ai for physical security keys.

The irony in all of your posts is amazing

I hear you, however, it does ask for the pin.
