Proposal: Update Interim Gen-1 Node Provider Remuneration After 48 months

Proposal 135320 – LaCosta | CodeGov

Vote: ADOPT

The proposal increases the type1.1 rewardable_nodes of Node Operator paxme from 0 to 28 in order to include 28 nodes in the zh4 DC.
The node’s Node Operator matches the one from the proposal and since the node_allowance is 0 this are the maximum number of nodes the NO can have as rewardable.

This also concludes the type1.1 rewardable_nodes of NP Tomahawk.vc since including proposal 135319 it has already reached the maximum number of nodes that an NP can have, 42.

Proposal 135334 – LaCosta | CodeGov

Vote: ADOPT

As part of the Steps for Gen-1 Node onboarding after 48 months, the Node Provider DeNoDe is creating the Node Operator z4wll to hold 14 nodes in the an1 DC that are being handed over by NP Allusion.
All the required steps were followed:

  1. A Forum post by the buyer NP :white_check_mark:
  2. The self-declaration document was uploaded on the IC Wiki :white_check_mark:
  3. The Node Operator ID proposed is new :white_check_mark:
  4. A statement, published on the IC wiki, signed by both the current and the new node provider :white_check_mark:

Currently the NP has a total of 0 type1 nodes which means it can add the proposed 14 nodes and still have a possibility of adding an additional 28 nodes before meeting the maximum number of nodes 42.
NP Allusion has currently 28 type1 nodes on DC an1 controlled by NO pgunx-7pdft-jwvuo-j65kd-2mdxl-bi3r7-znv4c-vw2q3-2gno4-2uoeg-wqe which match the number of nodes proposed and the DC mentioned in the proposal.

Proposal 135341 – LaCosta | CodeGov

Vote: ADOPT

The proposal increases the type1.1 rewardable_nodes of Node Operator mw64v from 24 to 25 in order to include node l3uqp.
The node matches the Node Operator in the proposal and wasn’t mentioned in previous proposals of this type, proposal 135287, proposal 134667, proposal 134745 and proposal 135246 and is the last one of the current nodes operated by this NO in order to have all the nodes as rewardable.
The NP still has a remaining node_allowance of 3.

Proposal #135359 Review — Louise | Aviate Labs

Vote: ADOPT
Review:

Node Provider NODAO is adding a new Node Operator record for 14 nodes in the AN1 DC. This is inline with the steps to migrate the nodes from the previous Node Provider Allusion.

  • The previous NO record with ID pgunx shows 28 Gen-1 nodes on this site, which is greater than the allowance being proposed. As clarified in a previous forum post :white_check_mark:
  • The NP ID belongs to NODAO as they will be taking over 14/28 nodes in this data center :white_check_mark:
  • The NO ID being added is new and does not reference any records from other data centers :white_check_mark:
  • A signed handover statement is present on the wiki :white_check_mark:
  • Hash of the signed handover statement matches what is published on the self declaration page of NODAO. :white_check_mark:

This proposal configures rewards for 14 nodes in GE1 DC for the Node Provider Decentralized Entities Foundation, to use the Type1.1 reward configuration.

  • All 14 node IDs mentioned in the proposal are listed on the public dashboard under GE1 data center :white_check_mark:
  • ic-admin shows node_allowance: 0. This means that all 14 nodes have been onboarded and this is the maximum amount allowed on this site and eligible for rewards. This is equal to the number of rewardable nodes being configured for this proposal. :white_check_mark:
  • type1.1 reward configuration is used :white_check_mark:

Proposal #135410 Review — Louise | Aviate Labs

Vote: ADOPT
Review:

This proposal configures removes the old Node Operator record with ID 4ohfd. This record indicates that the (previous) Node Provider Sygnum Bank was running 28 Gen-1 nodes in the ZH5 data center.

As ZH5 has been handed over to the (new) Node Provider Reist Telecom AG, and rewards have already been configured, the final step as per the instructions given to NPs is this proposal to remove the old NO.

  • Old NO records shows node_allowance: 28 which is equal to the rewardable_nodes. This means that no nodes are deployed with this NO record :white_check_mark:
  • The old NO record is for ZH5 DC :white_check_mark:
  • The NP ID on this NO record belongs to Sygnum Bank :white_check_mark:

Proposal 135410 – LaCosta | CodeGov

Vote: ADOPT

As part of the Steps for Gen-1 Node onboarding after 48 months, the proposal removes the Node Operator 4ohfd from NP Sygnum Bank. Using the dre tool I verified that no nodes are currently controlled by this Node Operator, although no proposal was made to set the rewards of this NO to 0 prior to this proposal as per the required steps, I don’t see any problem with this.

All nodes that were controlled by this NO in DC zh5 are now controlled by the newly created NO sqxhb-kreor-og6yg-hmbpu-mr3k7-b72at-dxjqk-xisvr-qkb6k-qmbt3-dae in proposal 135245 from NP Reist Telecom AG.

[NNS Proposal] Zero Rewards for Obsolete Node Types (type0, type1, type2)

TL;DR

We propose setting the monthly node reward for the fully deprecated node types—type0, type1, and type2—to 0 XDR. This step follows the ongoing evolution of the Internet Computer’s node remuneration model and removes the possibility of old rewards being distributed to obsolete node configurations.

Background

  • The Internet Computer node reward model has evolved over time, most recently incorporating updates to Gen-1 node provider remuneration after the initial 48-month period.
  • Forum discussions (e.g., forum thread) and previously adopted proposals (#125549, #127044, #132553, #133145) resulted in agreements to reduce the type1.1 reward amounts by 33% compared to the original type1 rewards.
  • Gen-1 nodes operating under the updated scheme can still receive rewards under the new type1.1
  • The deprecated node types type0, type1, and type2 are considered fully obsolete.

Proposal Overview

  1. Zero Remuneration
Set the reward for node types type0, type1, and type2 to 0 XDR/month within the node_rewards_table in the NNS registry.

  2. Justification

    • Obsolescence: The above reward types are no longer active.
    • Operations: Rather than requiring multiple proposals to change each affected node operator record, a single NNS proposal can eliminate all obsolete rewards directly in the reward table.
    • Room for Errors: This change in the table eliminates the risk that any obsolete node operator continues to receive the old rewards during the next reward cycle.

Please reply and vote!

We invite the community to provide feedback to this post, and to later vote on the submitted proposal once it is submitted on the NNS.

Thank you for your input, and we look forward to discussion.
